Talking about what scobee kicked previously is pointless. Heinz is not easy to kick in. He hit at 59 and 55...thats great. No one has done that at heinz.
Steelers v. Ravens - Week 4 GDT
True, but plenty of people have hit from 41 at Heinz.

Steelers v. Ravens - Week 4 GDT
I vaguely recall seeing an article showing that heinz field FG%s have steadily increased over time and are approaching league averages by segment (eg, 20-29, 30-39, and 40-49), but that 50+ remains a relative outlier (albeit with a small sample size because coaches are much more conservative in attempting 50+ despite the noticeable increase in makes at Heinz).
In light of all of this, Scobee going 2-4 last night from the distances he tried from when it was a light breeze is not acceptable.

To be fair, Scobee was kicking into the wind for both of his missed kicks. It looked like both kicks were moved by the wind. I don't think Scobee knows how to properly adjust to the wind patterns there. Tucker was kicking with the wind for both the game tying kick and his 52 yarder.

So, we're saying that an 11-year NFL vet kicker doesn't know how to kick with wind?

Over the past 10 seasons (2005-2015, inclusive), Steelers kickers are a combined 133 for 163 at home (81.6%).
When I put in the parameters of plays that start on the Opp. 31 yard line or closer to the goal line (should remove all 50+ yard field goals) the numbers become 131 for 153 (85.6%).
Random Comparables:
Indianapolis (<50): 127/134 (94.8%)
Indianapolis (total): 136/150 (90.7%)
New England (<50): 144/162 (88.9%)
New England (total): 150/170 (88.2%)
Philadelphia (<50): 143/158 (90.5%)
Philadelphia (total): 148/168 (88.1%)
San Francisco (<50): 136/157 (86.6%)
San Francisco (total): 148/175 (84.6%)
Miami (<50): 120/141 (85.1%)
Miami (total): 127/162 (78.4%)
Chicago (<50): 121/146 (82.9%)
Chicago (total): 130/157 (82.8%)
League (<50) with home kicks (I guess that would cover all non-neutral-site games, right?): 3928/4518 (86.9%)

This is consistent with what I recall, thanks Mikey.
The most boneheaded thing I saw was the empty set on 4th and 2 leading to a Vick bootleg to the short side of the field. I just saw a replay of that, and its even more inexplicable the second time.

If they would have done that on 3rd down, I would have been OK with it. But when they called for it on 4th down with that absolutely bizarre formation, everyone and their mother knew what was coming. This is consistent with what I recall, thanks Mikey.

When I saw that lineup, I honest thought it was going to be a bootleg pass. Then I realized they were on the short side of the field, so a bootleg wasn't likely, and then I had this horrible moment of Darth Vader "Nooooooooooooo" when the ball was snapped.
Don't question the decision to go for it at all. But the play call was brutal.

I think it was dumb to handcuff Vick in that play call. Vick isn't a set-run QB like Tebow or something...he excels when he has the ability to find his own hole on a drop back.
I would've called a QB draw

Let's not pretend the coaching staff wasn't the reason we lost that game
They handcuffed Vick

I think Vick managed the game well, actually. Especially with only three days practice with the first team. I'm really interested to see what happens next week.

Has anyone mentioned that Steve Smith Sr. put Mike Mitchell on his "lifetime hit list" for spearing him last night?
Even though Mitchell didn't touch him?

They had a solid gameplan that should have won the game had they not had a terrible kicker. Then they strayed from it in OT but that's a different story. I would have liked to see a few shots downfield at some point.Let's not pretend the coaching staff wasn't the reason we lost that game

After this year, I highly doubt both Smith and Mitchell will both be in the league.
