There was (but probably still isn't) some super sketchy dive bar on the North Side called the Star Lounge. I went there few times, because some friends lived near it. The bartender claimed to have some "100 year old Italian bitters" in his arsenal. Hypothetically, would something like that keep for so long?

Well, I'm looking at Angostura Bitters and they're 44.7% alcohol. I can't imagine they'd go bad. I'm sure the flavors are gone though. A lot of aromatics fade and degrade over time.
Btw, the reason I'm asking about bitters, we had some cocktails while we were in Pittsburgh (I only had one beer the entire weekend which is very odd for me), and we'd like to get some bitters to make some of the ones we had... one in particular is orange bitters. Also I tried a cocktail with some fernet. I think the guy said it had rye whiskey, bourbon, fernet and orange bitters. It was freaking delicious.

The bitters I currently have in my arsenal:
Angostura
Peychauds
Angostura orange (not quite the same as orange orange)
Lavender
Cardamom
Grapefruit
Chocolate
Celery
Tobacco
The first three are the ones I use most frequently. The others are ones I use in specific drinks or when trying to create something. My next purchase will probably be something spicy

wow...that's a lot of bitters. I'd assume (as I said to Columbia earlier) that they don't go bad? I don't make drinks often enough to have quite that many. I'm thinking about the set of Angostura, Peychauds and Regan's Orange.

I have a humongous bottle of angostura that has been open for over 18 months and it's still going strong

I've used the lavender a lot more than I thought I ever would. It's great with vodkas and gins

I prefer:Twas gift a bottle of balvenie 15 year.
Slappy suggested I mix it with diet Pepsi and grenadine. I told him to fly a kite and he responded with "Your taste buds suck if you don't, cump. That's how I do my single malts"

The standard Dewars and chivas are both bad and you all should feel bad for drinking them. The chivas 18 (I think it's 18) in the blue box is tasty.
If I'm drinking brown liquor on the cheap, it's CC all day, with VO and 7 and in 2nd and 3rd. CC is criminally underrated.
