I'll have to crack it open when the weather breaks again. He came back with some other goodies, too. A bottle of Blanton's (sp), and a bottle of Elijah Craig he pored from the barrell himself. The latter is 133 proof.

Rough day at work. Possible thunderstorm rolling in. Very much enjoying an after dinner boulevardier at home. Trying some different bourbons in them recently, and this is the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Woodsy flavor comes in on the finish, and is delightful with the bitter and sweet combo. Not quite as full bodied as a rye bourbon, but this is still complex and delectable.

Was at a trade show today and one area was beverages. A few beers but mostly the seltzers, hard sodas and the like. Got samples of Sauza Lime Crush, a Moscow Mule, Simply Lemonade Spiked and the soon to be hit of the summer, Mike’s Hard Freeze. Basically melted versions of your favorite slushy. Flavors are Blue (blue raspberry), Red (cherry), White (creamsicle-no thanks) and Pink (pink lemonade). Literally tasted like the melted ice pops you ate in the summer as a kid. No alcohol taste to speak of so the training wheel drinkers will have them everywhere this summer. A bit sweet for me but very nostalgic.

Very much like Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. I have a bottle with a little left that I need to kick. Will buy again.
I just don't understand hard seltzers. You could probably buy a handle of cheap vodka and an entire case of grocery store flavored seltzers for the same price as a six of premixed hard seltzers. You know it's going to be the cheapest white spirit possible in those things, so even the nastiest of plastic-bottle vodkas is still probably a higher-quality spirit.

You would be correct on that, sir.

Seltzers don't do it for me. No decent flavor at all. I'll take a cider every time over a seltzer.

I've had them with Espolon and with Teremana. Both were blanco. Both were delicious...but I think I liked the Espolon a bit more.Going to try some ranch waters tomorrow, they just look so refreshing. What kind of tequila yinz suggest?

Went to the liquor store yesterday... Picked up an Elijah Craig Small Batch when I saw each bottle comes with a pack of Bridgestones

Will have to givr the Epsolon a try... El Mayor is good but still has a bit of a bite. I'm not a spirits guy, let alone a tequila guy, but I could still drink these.I've had them with Espolon and with Teremana. Both were blanco. Sitting on the patio with my wife, listening to the Drew Carey show on Sirius XM and enjoying many beers. Penn IPA and some summer beer Iron City made (efit: Block House Spring Break) which was actually pretty decent. First Iron City product I’ve had since 1992. The stars look incredible tonight.
Just beer tonight but you asked.

Great guy. Pretty superficial to general fans as could be expected but loves to talk history once you get him going. Sat with me for over an hour.

TIL that spiced rums date only to 1984, when Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum was introduced by Diaego. This is why no classic cocktails (and hardly any well-known cocktails, period) call for spiced rums. They didn't exist before 1984.
