Kiper was talking about Bo nix’s lack of arm strength last night and was trying to make comparisons to Drew Brees. He said something about how Drew Brees lacked arm strength in college but it got better in the nfl. Gtfo with that nonsense. Nobody has an arm that gets stronger when they are like 22 years old. Your arm is your arm.
He's an older Kenny Pickett.

The guys who run the Old Takes Exposed Twitter site are gonna burn out their motherboards when Cousins gets hurt in Week 3 and Penix somehow gets the Falcons to the playoffs. Outlandish? Maybe. But so is all the reaction over the last 12 hours. Bottom line is nobody knows anything. Yeah, making that pick there is mysterious and it could lead to a waste of a great talent. Or, it could look genius if Cousins goes down.

Cousins could spontaneously combust tomorrow and it would still be a hilariously terrible pick. You don't pay $180MM for a QB in free agency and publicly state you're in "win now" mode and then burn a top 10 pick on a 24 year old backup QB. They're stuck with Cousins and his ridiculous cap hit until 2026. If drafting a QB is anywhere on your radar, you don't sign him. If you want to burn a prime pick on a developmental QB, you don't draft the 24 year old rookie with a sketchy injury history and limited upward potential. Penix has a big arm and is accurate when he has time to throw, but he's terrible outside the pocket and finally thrived at Washington in an offense that limited his passing options and has issues with intermediate routes. 2nd day pick.

The 49ers first round picks continue to make no sense and be head scratchers. They always pick better later in the draft, but it would be nice to hit on a first rounder not named Bosa after not having one for several years cause of Lance.

Those recent WR contracts mean that Aiyuk is going to be traded I think. He's going to want at least what St Brown got and I don't think the niners are going to do that. And honestly, that's the right thing. Only issue with them is that Deebo has trouble staying on the field. So they would probably prefer trading Deebo and paying Aiyuk.

I think it would take a lot of factors hitting just right for the Penix pick to look "genius."

But hey, you never know.

Genius would be taking him in a later round and finding success. Taking him in the first round means success is the only acceptable outcome. That's tough.

I also love draft time because it’s when random people on the internet call professional football GMs and scouts dumb

Unfortunately, lots of professional GMs and team scouts also have long track records of being dumb.

For example... Pens amateur scouting :(

I caught a couple of clips of Belichick on McAfee's show...seems like he's a completely different guy when he doesn't have a job. His Randy Moss acquisition story is worth listening to...

Great story. Randy moss being awesome was my takeaway from that. I also appreciate the amount of respect he has for moss.

That moss season won me a fantasy football title. I think I got him in like the 4th round

Caught some of that as well and he's came off as extremely knowledgeable, which you'd expect, and very funny/likeable, which was a total shock. The Randy Moss story was hilarious, but also provided a peek behind the curtains a bit. Good get for Pat for a draft show.

Saban was a trainwreck from what I saw. Weirdly negative about some players and seemed disinterested at times. Or maybe he was drunk...or he's starting to lose it a bit. Dunno, but he was painful to watch/listen to.

Legit have never heard of Darrell Green.
Really?

If nothing else, he was a beast in Tecmo Super Bowl...
I started really watching NFL football in '93 or so. It just seems like some guys don't have a lasting, broad legacy outside of their fan bases. Do people outside of Pittsburgh and maybe St. Louis really care about Jerome Bettis now?

I used to listen to a radio show hosted by John Riggins and that wasn't enough to bring Green on my radar. When I think of '80s Redskins it's Theismann, Riggins, and Doug Williams. There is nothing in between those guys and Sean Taylor when it comes to that franchise as far as I can remember.

Mostly collecting cards and tecmo bowl and nfl films. Green is my second favorite non steeler of all time. Behind Barry Sanders. I loved guys with crazy speed and he was the fastest for a long time

Monk Gary Clark and Ricky Sanders were fun though. They always stuck in my head. Then and the Denver 3 amigos

That’s odd that none of those things would have made Green register. He was they’re most consistent defensive player through the 80s and 90s, regular pro bowler, and used to get a lot of pub for being the nfls fastest man. But I guess post 1993 he was on the downside of his career and the redskins became more and more irrelevant so kinda makes sense.

Amazing that Dilworths is able to create a viral moment. Things they struggle with, hiring a bartender that can reach their beer taps and changing the channel on one of their 800 tvs.

Fake news! I confused Dilworth and duckworths.

Can you possibly imagine intentionally traveling to Detroit to attend the NFL draft?

There are high stakes for Commanders tonight and I can't even get interested in watching in favor of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Let me know who they get.

Waiting for hours for your team to potentially draft a player and be mildly excited or really disappointed based on limited projections for their future? No.

The Eagles secondary ostensibly got a lot better but I can't trust a white CB from Iowa.
