So it sounds like all of the sensational stuff was either complete speculation, or at the very least not considered proven by WaPo. The story that's out isn't great, but it doesn't move the needle like "Gruden/Snyder cocaine sex parties" for me. Pretty garden-variety shitty sexual harassment stuff.

This feels more like a wait-for-the-other-shoe-will-drop situation to me. Like, this is only the first of a series of stories.

Sounds like the NFL has canceled preseason football this year. Let's hope that trend continues forever.

When I was a kid there were like 6 preseason games.

Preseason is stupid. These guys play through Mites, Pee Wees, JV, Varsity, and college ball never playing a preseason. Then all of a sudden, they become professionals with the best and most accomplished coaches and talent evaluators in the sport, and they can't tell who can play without four throwaway 'games'? I'm all for the odd intersquad scrimmage with another team during camp for some dissimilar training, but that's about it.

i think there's value in a couple preseason games for the fringe roster/UDFA types to see what you've really got. For starters and guys clearly on the team? Clearly not so much as evidenced by the limited time they play during preseason now.

every league has a preseason but the NFL is the only one annually in the crosshairs for whatever reason, Preseason games are boring AF but they have a purpose. 2 would be enough imo

I don't disagree, but I still hate the NFL's preseason. It's different for hockey because we get at least 82 games.

Preseason is stupid regardless of the sport.

It's money, same reason why Spring Training is two months long.

Also helpful for evaluating talent...I don't like it either and four games is obscene...but it's not like it's this complete fabrication haha

Part of what bugs me so much about it is the farce of paying $x for the privilege of seeing perhaps 50 people play their last football game. Meanwhile, the $100 million HOF quarterback takes six snaps and calls it a day. It just bugs me.
