If you look at TV ratings, in any given year something like 8 of the top 10 and 15 of the top 20 shows are usually NFL games.

I just realized the "Saturday" caveat. Not as much competition there as I had originally thought.

IIRC, it's open on the sides to catch a seabreeze. Or forest fire-driven winds or something like that.

It's mostly for the fires. Makes every game smell like a cookout.

Weird. I already view LA as a cesspool. It'd be weird if there weren't homeless people around.

It was bad last summer, that's for sure. Stopped by my old Hollywood digs and it was surrounded by tents. This is right across the street from the Jim Henson/Charlie Chaplin Studios studios. The juxtaposition of a statue of Kermit in a top hat next to rows of homeless is a weird sight.

My friends who are still out there say the city went from about 25k homeless to 250k during Covid. That's insane.

I had a couple hour layover in LA in Sept 2021 and I decided to explore Hollywood (I had never been in LA before). I don't know if I'd ever been that depressed while exploring a new area before

Did you live at Crazy Girls

That campus was A&M Records before Henson.

We're way out in the west Valley so we don't see much of the homeless. But when we go over the hill, it's total yikes. It has skyrocketed in the last 20 months. I don't know what's fueling it, if it's all COVID related or what, but it has been a catastrophic jump.

When I was in the SF area in December I expected to see a lot more homeless. Maybe it was too far from the city proper to really see it.

Related, we can't get any parts out of China in February as they are basically shutting down all their factories to reduce the smog during the Olympics.

Pretty damn close. The apartment building was on De Longpre and La Brea. The "Sunset Detroit Plaza."

I keep seeing the Mahomes vs Allen is the new Brady vs Manning... TIL, Manning actually has a winning record against Brady in the playoffs.

They only met 5 times, and Manning won 3 of them. For some reason, I was thinking that Brady kept beating Manning in the playoffs, but that's not the case at all.

 I loved living there. It was a fun area. And only 3 of my friends got held up at gun point so, you know, not bad.

Madden whining about people whining about the OT rule stating people were not up in arms about it when NE beat Atlanta because Brady’s the GOAT. A, that’s a nice bit of revisionist history as Brady is also one of the mist hated players in football with a metric crap ton of people who wanted the Falcons to have every chance to win, and B. You knew Atlanta was shot after hacking up the lead while if Buffalo got the ball again the way Allen was playing, who knows?

Funny how narratives and team results can influence opinion like that...you would have guessed Manning went 0-8 against him*...

correction: Colts Peyton is 1-2 against Brady. Broncos Peyton is 2-0. This is why Peyton will forever be remembered as a Bronco first

albeit Broncos Peyton did lose to Colts Luck one year…

Sean Payton is 58? I thought he was early 50s max, looked young in his early years with NO.

Fun fact - he was the Bears QB during the Replacement Games in 1987.

Other fun fact - he comes from that noted QB factory Eastern Illinois.

The same Byron leftwich that had his linemen carry him down the field to keep playing???

Is this what it means to be old? People you remember playing becoming head coaches in the nfl?
