On feel looking nothing up I would say gore had 2-3 season of elite play and a 7 or so productive ones so this is a 2/3 longevity play

I'm gonna say I would probably vote for him eventually if I had a vote because there's a lot of ppl in line
NFL
I guess he's just been solid for a long time that maybe I never realized he's been so consistent. They showed a graphic that he's been the top rusher on his team for 12 straight years. That's pretty remarkable in this day and age.On feel looking nothing up I would say gore had 2-3 season of elite play and a 7 or so productive ones so this is a 2/3 longevity play

The more I think about it...Not first ballot but I feel he should get in eventually. I'd be ok if he didn't though.

Andrew Luck is in Transylvania having gypsies **** on his chest to try to fix him right now...who the hell knows what his progress is. Ideally, we cash out and move down a bit...but it's a big secret how well Luck is doing...he hasn't played in 400 weeks it feels like...my answer is "no" - I think we trade down. But that's me assuming Luck makes a reasonable recovery. Like everything these days, we botched this too...whoa -- do you think the Colts, assuming they land in the 2 or 3 spot, would take a QB?Oh Jesus...the "close in on Rosen" game...

If Bettis is in the HoF, Gore has to be too.

Self loathing yinzer question alert:
If Bettis doesn’t win a superb owl in Detroit in his last season, does he still get into the HoF? It was such a storybook ending that really cemented his place in history; I’m not sure gore will ever have that kind of nostalgia attached to him.
Also, did giant iggle ever sell frank gore helmet cakes or just Jerome Bettis helmet cakes

I say yes. When Bettis retired he was 5th in career rushing yards. He was the most productive power back of his era. Curtis Martin got into the Hall with a career similarly built on longevity and consistency instead of overwhelming greatness.
I think Gore gets in, AP gets in, and if LeSean McCoy has a couple more solid years (will pass 10K rushing yards this season, over 3k receiving yards) he could get in. Other than that, I don't see any HoF running backs from that generation.

Honestly, the fact that he tore both ACLs and is still able to put up the numbers he's doing cements It, IMO. Like the Masterton Award. Dude still maintains a high level of play with 2 repaired knees. Most guys would've retired.

Bettis is #7 rusher of all time. I don't think there's a question about any of these guys. Peterson, Gore, Bettis.

I don't know how running backs work...just be careful with using career stats as a benchmark for anything...it's not a good way to go about things...season to season impact vs peers should weigh much heavier...

I honestly don't think I'd put James or Gore in. James was probably the bigger impact player, but did either one of them finish above 3rd of 4th in the league in rushing in any given season? I don't think Gore did enough to get in compared to James, who is still a big question mark.

Sans injury Shaun Alexander was better than both.

Edge led the league in rushing yards twice, in a row...and has four top-5 finishes.
Gore never led the league. And has one top-5 finish (3rd in 2006).
I can't imagine anyone using fantasy sports to dictate HOF terms (except MIMH), completely different worlds (historical vs. fantasy)...not fit for this type of discussion, if so...

I honestly don't recall James winning any rushing titles, but two of them with four top-5 finishes probably pushes him into the HoF given his other stats. Still don't think Gore gets in, though.

I think there's something to be said for being consistently very good for such a long stretch vs great for a short period of time. Gore is basically the anti-Terrell Davis. 9 1000+ yard seasons, a 1,700 yard year. He has 3,600 receiving yards. Career 4.4 ypc.. I think he should be in. Did it all on crappy teams too. Can't imagine what the numbers might look like if he was running the ball with a lead in the second half vs blocking for Alex Smith, Luck and Brissett chasing points all these yearsEdge led the league in rushing yards twice, in a row...and has four top-5 finishes.
