All kick returns are anymore are commercial breaks. I can't really remember an exciting kick return in the last 2-3 years.

Just come up with something entirely different already. The pretense of even bothering with kickoffs is honestly a little insulting.

The hard part about losing the kickoff is taking away the onside kick. I know there are a bunch of contrived ways to do try to come to the same result, but it's not the same really.

I honestly like the XFL (or is it USFL? idk and idc) rule where you can choose to go for a fourth and 20 or something after scoring

I thought you were going to talk about the XFL scramble.

Studies showed that a disproportionate amount of injuries occurred on kickoffs, so they wanted to find ways to mitigate the speed of collisions between players. They did so by more or less eliminating them.

Move the kickoff line to the -30 yd line or whatever it was. But move the line for the coverage players to the 50 or even the plus side of the field, so they don't get 5 seconds of running start. (Figure out whatever you need to figure out for onsides kicks) Think out of the box.

I mean, at that point, just have teams punt the ball instead.

Just get rid of them. Start on the 20

Yep. Remove them entirely and start at the 20 or 25. Keep on-side kicks. It's pretty simple.

onside kicks have effectively been legislated out too. not sure why they would keep them

huh just discovered this. apparently the NFL and XFL have a collaboration agreement: https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/bears ... eement-nfl

I actually can see the NFL adopting the kickoff rules from the XFL now (kicking team starts only 10 yards away from receiving team, 4th and 15 "onside kick", etc)

new rule just passed: if the ball lands between the 25 and end zone, the returner can fair catch it and they then get the ball at the 25

kick returns are slowly dying. Would be surprised if they exist at all in 10 years
college does this. it's fine

Is this to reduce injuries?

If they were serious about injury reduction they'd make every stadium have a natural field.

And no Thursday games, except Thanksgiving and those teams all have to have byes in the week prior.

Devoid of knowledge or context and going solely by that image, I would not have been surprised to learn that 'Stetson Bennett' was a walk-on kicker at Cal State-Northridge.

I am devoid of knowledge here but I don't think the image looks weird or that he doesn't look like a quarterback out of college which I'm assuming he is. He's kinda skinny is that it

The build, the wrist tape, the hair..... it all adds up to 'day shift bartender at Houstons'.

He has a bit of that Flacco unibrow going, so don't underestimate him yet.

Be mid your entire career, get pass interferenced to an Owl, briefly be the highest paid QB ever. Sounds good.
