Where would they start the 4th and 15 at, and if an incomplete pass is thrown or the team attempting loses yards, does that become a touchback or does the "receiving" team get the ball at the dead spot?
It seems intriguing conceptually to replace an onside kick (and would spice things up a bit) but I feel like it could potentially lead to some weird scenarios.

I hate the 4th and 15 idea. It seems really hokey to me. You have a significantly higher chance of converting the 4th and 15 than an onside kick with the new rules, I would have to think.
Agree on the penalty thing. Automatic first downs would be terrible, but if you know it will be a pass play, and you think you might be beat, no risk in just hauling the guy down. There's no good solution to that.

I don't know what we are talking about really, just based on what I have read in the last few posts, would this be a potential solution: the NHL faceoff rule? First time is a do-over, second time is a penalty. Meaning the first pass interference is a repeat try, the second is a keeper.I hate the 4th and 15 idea. It seems really hokey to me. Onside kicks cannot be converted any more. Is 4th & 15 a similar percentage of conversion to the old onside kick? Is there a method behind the number? Or does it just feel right?

It *feels* reactionary.

Just seems like it could potentially be too much of a swing either way. At least with onside kicks, they were typically limited to being recovered around the 45/50 for the kicking team and the 40/45 for the receiving team. My main issue with this is that there's the potential for the "kicking team" to score another touchdown in mere seconds after scoring one. It also could give way too good field position on a sack or incomplete pass.Their own 35. I'd assume wherever the plays ends up. Otherwise I don't think they'd call it 4th down, it would just be a conversion attempt or something

Yes. It feels like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. They should just go back to the old onside kick rulesIt *feels* reactionary.

Eagles acquired Jordan Howard for a 6th. Man, Philly fans have had a wonderful few months.
