I've had good luck with bilas for NFL, Pirates, and Pens games. Biggest issue is that to get it on Chromecast, I can't stream it from my iPad. Only my wife's MacBook Air (our gaming PCs are upstairs and would work, but I'm lazy) and that can struggle if she is actually using it for other things at the same time.

What is the quality of these illicit streams? A friend was using NHL Streams from reddit and said the quality was very good.I've had good luck with bilas for NFL, Pirates, and Pens games. Bilas is very good, 6600 kbps at 60 FPS, and very smooth for me. If you have a 4K TV or other high end screen, it might not be great...but it works very well, and it’s not that far off the live game.

I don’t need anything crazy for the streams, so long as it’s HD. I know this week it’s due to Cincy playing against Philly, but it still drives me insane that we rarely get Steelers games, but will get every **** Buffalo and Jets game somehow.

The affiliate doesn't really have any say. Who you see is determined by your broadcast DMA and the other home team DMAs on a given week, and those teams' conferences (which dictates network); most markets don't even get 2 early games on CBS and Fox.
NFL
There are 5 team DMAs closer to you than PIT, 4 of which have coincident divisional rival teams. You're not getting a PIT game unless it's one of the featured games of the week, or none of those other 5 teams are playing at home that week.

Also depends who has the double header. Today CBS is single which is Steelers, Fox is double so we actually get the WTF/Browns game the Cowpies/Seahawks.
If Steelers are on the double header network we get two late games.
Time was regardless of the double header the home team game was protected so today we would only have gotten Steelers and Dallas/Seattle.
Back in the days of analog we used to get Youngstown stations on cable- could get as many as 6 games on Sunday. In digital world they are no longer covered as must carry.

This league is terrible. The Rams won the game and the refs handed the Bills a total bullsht PI call and handed them the victory instead
