This happens time and time again. We see it in Kansas City all the time, too. This season was a good example with Hunt, but you could look back at Charles, or further back to Holmes who was followed by Larry Johnson. People talk about system qb's, but system rb's is as much a thing if not more.Gurley's contract brought some of this, but at the same time, Gurley getting hurt and the Rams still being successful I think pumped the brakes on the "RBs are worth so much more" narrative.

And that's not to even speak of the vastly higher cost of living up there. Not enough people take that into consideration.Bell will be paying approximately $700K more a year in state taxes as well.

Cost of living, like most things, probably has a limit - plus, it's a push/pull thing...right?
a) How much does CoL matter when you pull in, what, $80 million in a ten-year stretch?
b) New York vs. Pittsburgh - if you're young, genetically superior, and stupid rich? No contest.

And your local endorsement revenue is higher in NYC than Pittsburgh.
It's definitely multifaceted issue.

How complicated are pro athlete's taxes? They are only paying home state tax on half a season's worth of salary, the rest is paid as income in the road team's state. Football players probably have it easiest, since their season is shortest. But NHL, NBA, and of course MLB athletes have got to have pretty silly returns.

I followed Allan Walsh on twitter and he said some hockey players returns can look like a book they're so thick. Then again they have CPAs so it isn't an issue. How complicated are pro athlete's taxes? we have a couple NFL players.. they're alright. The team or league provides a statement with wages per state for road games so you don't have to spend much time pro-rating salaries by days or anything. Still filing in 9 states or whatever isn't simple. Usually they have other business ventures and investments and endorsements and such that end up taking more time than the states issue
