Interesting. With the NFL appealing DW suspension, they are trying to keep him off the field entirely. The NFLPA didn't appeal the 6 games, and the NFL isn't disputing that either, just that it should be a full year (which includes those six games). Leaves the League open to keeping DW out of preseason, too. It's bad enough having him wear a team uniform and signing autographs, but they really don't want him on a field with the Shield with TV coverage.

Apparently his contract tolls if it's over 10 games, which people are taking to mean that if there's a settlement, it'll likely be 10 games. I don't think you get Jimmy G if it's only 10 games.

Another reason people are now expecting a settlement is they don't believe the NFL would allow Watson on the field at all this preseason if the plan was for him to be out all year.

Wouldn't it mean he's out whatever $$$ for the fine immediately, plus he doesn't get paid anything for 2022 (or however that works), and next year he's only booking $1m? That would actually be kinda funny.

Fine, yes. But when was his signing bonus paid? Guaranteed money is guaranteed money, as a general rule of thumb. I think the contract was designed to protect him with this in mind.

I'm just going to by r/nfl. Apparently if the suspension is more than 11 games his contract tolls, which would look like the below tweet. He'd still get his signing bonus. It's difficult finding a solid answer on when the contract tolls though.
