The whole "just take the worst possible outcome for the kicking team" when it comes to touchbacks and the like is pretty silly to me. The guy caught the ball, two feet down, stopped his momentum...the play is over there. His teammates pushing him into the end zone to celebrate the good play is obviously not very technically sound, but that's not the intent of that rule...don't be a dumb dick**** as a ref there...
I'd take a look at it again if it's somewhere, but that was my recollection at live speed...

It's a rule that exists largely for its own sake. A technicality. I think the last time it came into play was a playoff game a couple seasons ago when a kicking team player thought the receiving team player touched the ball; he 'recovered' the muff and ran it in from like 10 yds out. But it wasn't a muffed kick, so instead it was ruled a touchback.unless your original post was some deep layered sarcasm, I don't understand

So the ref clearly blowing the whistle and waving his hands before he stepped back into the end zone means the play is dead every other time except in that case? Seems silly.
Didn't matter anyways.

Pat might be over exposed at this point.

The play is over with the whistle - like no one can score or advance the ball. But it's a dead ball infraction. It's like batting the ball away from the refs is a delay of game.So the ref clearly blowing the whistle and waving his hands before he stepped back into the end zone means the play is dead every other time except in that case? I'm not defending the wisdom of the rule, just noting it is a rule, and it is generally understood well enough by players 40 deep on the depth chart that it's almost never called; the refs botched it.

Ho lee sheet
I mean they'll still lose by 15 but except for a strip sack the Commandos just pretty much enforced their will on the Eagles D the whole first half.
Won the possession battle 23 minutes to 6.

The Eagles have the problem of being supported in large part by Philadelphians; that's awful in is own right, but by extension that means within a population of happy Eagles fans some not insignificant number of the them are also Flyers fans. And I can't have happy Flyers fans. (Same logic applies to baseball and basketball, but those sports mean nothing to me, so it's a more abstract grievance)Good.
I wish no joy or success for any sports team from Philadelphia.

That whole situation is just weird. I've followed Watson on Twitter for years, back to when he was at Clemson. He's been retweeting Browns fans wearing his jersey or dickriding the team/DW4. Super cringey tbh.
