Amazing that in a multi, multi-billion dollar organization, schleps like Walt Anderson are still permitted to embarrass themselves repeatedly officiating games. I have no love for the Saints, but holy hell that Cam Jordan TD fumble return that got blown dead, and then overturned as it was obviously a fumble and not an incomplete pass. The officials are literally trained to NOT blow the whistle.

And don't get me started on all of the PI Replay bullsht yesterday.
I’ll add to this rant by mentioning the two horrific roughing the passer calls in Bears-Broncos game, one on each team. The Broncos one will get noticed more because it gave the Bears the extra spark needed on their last drive. In both cases, the defensive player hit the QB just before he let go of the ball. Didn’t hit him high or low nor with the crown of the helmet. Whoever this ref was, and I’m pretty sure he’s a newbie, should be immediately sent back to being a field judge. I thought Mark Schlereth (game analyst) was going to tear off the headset and maul the guy.
I just watched those two calls. Dear God. How on Earth do these get called?

His stepdad was interviewed last week and said that he was more surprised that it took others this long to figure out that AB was a scumbag.

"Taylor was watching a church service on her iPad" when AB back-jacked. That's a colorful detail that I didn't see reported earlier. Yahoo.

Who watches church? And then, I guess, I'd like to see the Venn Diagram of who watches church and who gets ejaculated on regularly and then see if that's the only person in the middle...

I am in favor of phone cases that have the slide open hidey compartment that can hold 2 items (usually ID and a credit/debit card). The fold open things that increase the thickness footprint of the device by 50% can sod off.

The sad part is, he is probably going to have a hell of a season in NE, win the super bowl, and not get punished for any of this, and go back to being the hero to everyone.

True justice would be him being suspended and waived by NE in week 17 with no money being paid.

AB had a $9 million signing bonus, split between this season and next. He's already been paid $5 million by the rub-n-tug guy, and has a guaranteed base salary of just over $1 mil; if he plays through Wk17, he'll have already been paid that whole amount. In a scenario where he's suspended and cut at the end of the regular season, I think the only money he'd be out would be performance incentives.

$1.5 million each for:
105 receptions
1,298 yards
16 TDs

The receptions number would put him among single-season leaders all-time for NE (Moss never broke 100 recs in three seasons, for example), and 16 TDs would be a career-high. However, even in a shortened season I think he can hit the yardage target, because let's face it he's a YAC machine.

Unless the Pats can sue to recover payments in a suspension/waived situation.

Also, while I'm not trying to say Tombrady is anything but the GOAT, it is a little frustrating to see so many things continually break the Pats' way. Tombrady is aging and looking a little less sparkly? Oh, okay, the football gods have made two of their three divisional rivals Dumpster fires this year, and the one that was trending up.... let's give their QB the kissing disease that will sideline him potentially indefinitely, which will likely span at least the early part of this season where they play NE twice in three weeks; and maybe we can guild the lily but scheduling them 8 non-playoff teams to start the season.

1 game in, and i'm already very much not cool with his little push offs that they never call.

Just wait til he makes a big play with the push off and then challenge for offensive pass interference.

Adrian Hill is the referee who called the two roughing the passer penalties. He's a rookie referee but has been in the league since 2010. Peter King skewered him and Walt Coleman (Saints-Rams referee) pretty good in his weekly column today. Hopefully the NFL is paying attention to all this stupidity in stripes. It's 2019, the games should be officiated better than ever and instead, we're getting nearly the polar opposite.
