Andrew Luck has some sort of high ankle injury and will be out for at least the preseason. Is it too early to say he has had a lost career? The dude is 29, and has either been injured or had terrible supporting casts

Weird that 'neither' won the battle between Luck and RGIII.
What a draft. Luck, RGIII, Tannehill, Weeden in the first round.

Disingenuous...the Colts clearly were the winners of that and will continue to be. It's not close. Since QBs are only measured in wins and losses, he's had five seasons and a winning record in all of them...this will be a sixth...

They would have ultimately been better off with another year of Curtis Painter.

Ignoring that that was an impossibility, I can't imagine how...since he's come into the league, it would be very difficult to name players more valuable to his team than Luck...he's been terrific, in a mostly bleh set of circumstances...

I didn't mean to say that Luck hasn't helped the Colts...he obviously has. I meant more in terms of failing to put a competitive team around him (especially on defense/O-Line) and the injuries he has suffered.

I'm assuming this is sarcasm...but does "[hold] hostage" mean "taking them to the playoffs as, basically, a one-man show"?He's held them hostage from drafting a franchise QB for what 4 years now?
And I know, shad, my confused sentiment isn't directed towards you...I legitimately have no idea what these other two are talking about...did Sid "hold us hostage" while he was out from 2011 to 2013...?

He's either has an MVP caliber year or been out with injury. That's still a win for the Colts and I don't think it's even close.

So I went and looked and my original statement needs correction. Luck wasn't as injured as I thought he was; I must have been looking at it through ESPN colored glasses. Also, the next draft year was even worse for QBs so my position that they shouldn't have drafted him doesn't hold up....I legitimately have no idea what these other two are talking about...
To my original assertion; Luck v. RGIII, certainly Luck won that one but I believe when all is said and done ultimately both franchises didn't get what they bargained for. Whether you think Luck is a Lemieux situation where his accomplishments eclipse his injuries over a career is a choice for you to make in time. I don't think Luck will get more durable with age and it will ultimately set the Colts back the longer they hold onto him. But, they did shitcan Pey-Pey so maybe they won't let Luck linger.

Sometimes injuries should be held against the player. Sometimes injuries should be held against the front office.
I'd rather slam my junk in a dresser drawer for 3 hours than watch a Colts game, but doesn't Luck end up running for his life on approximately 92% of his dropbacks?

Rivers - on arm talent alone
Brady
Watson
Luck
Roethlisberger
Mayfield - Early to tell
Mahomes
Rivers, Brady, and Ben are past their prime, so Luck is a top 4 QB for the future, even if his claim to fame is winning Wild Card games. The 2013 and 2014 drafts are horrible for QBs. 2015 was Winston and Mariota aren't nearly as good.

Works for me. I do think Luck will be less injured now that he has an offensive line for the first time in his career...he got beat to **** his first several seasons and only because he's a "power forward QB" that he survived as well as he did...
But with rarely a defense (21st, 9th, 19th, 25th, 22nd, [30th], 10th) and no offensive line until this past season and no rushing game (he had one 100 yard rushing game between his first game week 1 of 2012 until week 6 of 2016...it was Vick Ballard's 105 yard game in a loss to Houston...he's still only had 7, four came from Marlon Mack last year), he's still been an absolute wagon.
Including all the time he missed, Colts players rushing for first downs (combined 2012-2018):
Gore 147 (13 TD)
Luck 112 (14 TD)
Mack 74 (12 TD)
Ballard 56 (2 TD)
Richardson 52 (6 TD)
And it's not like it's been a situation where he's had even Manning targets...he had very late career Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton is a very good speedy deep threat...and nothing else. He got 750 yards and 13 TDs out of Eric Ebron, who has no hands...Chester Rogers had 50 and 500 last year, a waiver caliber punter returner, Ryan Grant is literally a Madden fill-in player when you don't have a full roster - 35 and 350...
He's been unreal, and worth every bit of capital we've invested...even if he misses the preseason in 2019...

To meow's point; I like Luck as a person and am happy for him to succeed. Jim Irsay sucks but I don't dislike him enough to wish the team ill will. I'd be just fine being wrong about my forward looking statements.
