need the possibility of onsidesThe kickoff changes are weird too... why not just get it over with and eliminate kickoffs from the game.

How else would they be able to play 10 minutes of commercials sandwiched around a 10 second play?

Nope... get rid of them too. It's clear the NFL is trying to eliminate the kickoff all together. Just freaking do it already. Other team gets the ball at the 25 after a score, done and done. Quit dragging it out.need the possibility of onsidesThe kickoff changes are weird too... why not just get it over with and eliminate kickoffs from the game.

This is from the Onion, right? The NFL is considering a rule change for next year. The home team decides if the two squads will go on field for the anthem, and if they do and someone takes a knee their team will be hit with an in-game penalty (presumably a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct). Which means every game, each team will have one guy take a knee, which means we're going to have every game start with the referee announcing offsetting UC fouls.

I wish.
New story is that the policy owners are voting on is to remove the requirement for players to be on the sideline during the anthem, and fine clubs (not individual players) who do not 'show proper respect' for the flag.
Here's a thought: Just do away with pre-game anthem singing and the related theatrics.

Dear lord....I cannot believe how convoluted and absurd this policy is. It literally reads like something some rando dumb radio caller would suggest on the air. This is from the Onion, right? The NFL is considering a rule change for next year. What a dumb idea. If this is a hill they're willing to die on, then they should just require players to be there and standing. If they don't, then they can't play (suspended for that game). I would imagine not too many players would exercise that option.
NFL
It is official: Players can remain in the locker room during the anthem, but if they take the field, they must stand during the song. Failure to comply will result in a team fine.
How long before owners tell players who want to stay behind to just go ahead to stay in the locker room for the rest of the afternoon?

You mean go back to the way it used to be? Well then the league couldn't collect money from the DoD for pregame military celebrations.I wish.

It started actually 100 years ago this year, during the 1918 World Series. The tradition started for obvious patriotic reasons during a time of war. Once it became tradition, good luck being the first sports league to say "we're not doing the anthem anymore!" You can imagine how the masses would react. It's more for dollars and sense reasons now.I frankly have never understood why the National Anthem is played at pro sporting events.

What would Nashville do without the anthem though? Sing that ****** Dolly Parton song...or some ****...?
"Home for me is Tennessee...sittin on my back porch swing...city life would give me fits...birds are sh*tting on my t*ts..."
I forget how it all goes, but something pretty close to that I think...

You know how there's that pump up music and players entering the field of play, and they then go to the sidelines? Just start the game then. Pretty simple, really.
