Kicking/punting/special teams probably warrants a guy every 15-20 years, which is about the current pace.

More on Tasker, he was universally recognized as an elite player on special teams (I did have a hunch that who we were talking about, but Beebe was doubled-down on, so I had no choice)...

Tasker went to 7 Pro Bowls and was voted First-Team All-Pro on special teams in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995 + First-Team All-Conference in 1987 and 1990. All this despite not being awarded any tackles in his career and no return TDs on just 44 KR (17 of which came as a rookie with Houston) and 32 PR (12 of which came in his final season).

So Tasker was very obviously recognized without numbers and was very obviously an elite special teams player. Was there a better special teams player in his era...?

Steve Tasker and Don Beebe are not the same person...
Big if true. Thought it was an interesting article on the subject at hand

27 from the Bills celebrating is the best part of the gif. Clear on the right side of the line.

Imagine how many superb owls Manning would have with his Colts offense and his Broncos defense. Maybe they win a couple more vs Brady.

i think that the team with the best offense in the league and the best defense in the league would win a lot of super bowls

Yeah, I mean, that combination is a 7 or 8 in 10 years type of super-dynasty...like 1970's Habs globetrottery...instead our defense was left for dead, just edge rushers and the occasional Bob Sanders sighting...as such, we got one out of the whole deal...

You could make a good argument that it'd be a good team

whoa -- do you think the Colts, assuming they land in the 2 or 3 spot, would take a QB?

I'm a believer in taking the best player available in most situations, almost regardless of roster needs. A prospect like Darnold could bring a decent return for teams with pieces to trade and a looming QB gap.

why would they pick him to trade him? Wouldn't you just trade the pick? Overall pick #2 has a bigger market than Sam Darnold

I was more wondering if the Colts fan base was ready to take out an extremely pricey insurance policy on Andrew luck by taking a QB there vs the opportunity to fill any other huge hole they have if they pick at 2 or 3

I think all these can't miss QB's are going to stink and Baker Mayfield will fall to the Steelers and have a Russell Wilson like career.
