Rodgers said he liked to overinflate them because he liked to find the limits because its easier for him to grip. He wasnt testing the refs he was trying to throw the ball better. What he said he does is identical to what brady might have done
That's according to a second-hand recollection by Phil Simms.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but for the Packers the order is:

Overinflate--> Refs check balls --> Game

And for the Patriots the order is:

Refs Check balls --> Deflate --> Game

I agree that on the surface, they seem similar, but they're really not equals.

I have heard nothing about the timing of the packers adjustments. Im no longer riding the bus though, so my willingness to engage in this has expired.

Any benefit of the doubt the Patriots had was exhausted in 2007. Once again the same organization had been caught attempting to gain a competitive advantage that is against league rules. The histrionics from Brady's agent about the "tragicly flawed" Wells report is what's embarrassing.
Exactly when does the level of cheating become legitimate?

Except, of course, hearsay not being admissible evidence in legal proceedings. (With a few very specific exceptions that do not include television broadcasters.)

I don't think I've ever seen I40 defend something so ferociously as Tom Brady and the Patriots...

They offered to examine the digital records of the phone in a way expressly limited to the subject matter, under the supervision of counsel (who could direct the production of the records), and in a way that would not even require the investigating firm not even take possession of Brady's phone.

Ordinarily, I'd be wary of that as well, but this was as antiseptic as it possibly could be. And Brady declined.

This outcome is just about perfect for the NFL. They appease the majority of their fans without saying for sure that he cheated. He gets 2-4 games and things blow over. They stay in the news for a couple weeks post-draft. If the report said nothing happened, there would be a lot more pissed off people. Worked out well.

With the that NFL-National Guard story, I don't know whether I am more annoyed at the National Guard for wasting money or the NFL for taking money for events they should do for free.

Weren't they shamed out of NASCAR for wasting money sponsorship?

I remember a story where the Guard said they received around 25,000 solicitations for enlistment information that cited the NASCAR program. Of them, only 20 (two-zero) met the enlistment criteria, and none of them actually signed up.

That's the Guard's own data. :face:

Yeah, and I think overall between the sponsorship itself and various activation activities somewhere around $90 million was spent on the program.

They make them sign waivers now, so they team still has to negotiate in good faith as if the injury didn't happen. So he is still gonna get paid, but sucks he got hurt...

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12848 ... e-minicamp

Fowler has not yet signed his rookie contract. His deal is expected to be worth about $23 million, fully guaranteed, over four years (with a fifth-year team option).

Unsigned draft choices participating in minicamp sign an injury protection waiver. If there is an injury, the team will continue to negotiate in good faith as if the player were not injured.

A source confirmed to ESPN that Fowler had signed a waiver.
