You know I thought I head something like that before and was really shocked. I didn't think it was 8 kids but it was something about him I was like "Wow"

He is, I guess, going for one per pick per season... still off by 10-15 kids. He should talk to Cromartie

This is a classic Steelers selection, in the worst possible way. The team has desperate, glaring, obvious needs across the secondary. So of course, they go out and try to improve their pass rush. Diminishing returns on this strategy kicked in several years ago. If Dupree is not a double-digit sack producer in two years, it may not be because of lack of skill or hustle. Quarterbacks might just be dropping back and seeing three receivers open before the pass rush can even get close.

I have a hard time being upset by the pick. It seemed like he was easily a top 10 pick before the draft. The pass rush needed help. Although this sort of feels like the Jarvis jones pick which makes me a little apprehensive but I'm not too concerned they didn't address the secondary.

And for what its worth, most other places gave them A's for the pick and characterized it as a steal.

From everything I've read, it looks like it was the biggest steal of the draft thus far... At a certain point talent is more important than need, and pass rush is a need anyways. I too wish they could have gotten a good CB, but I'm not sure there was a CB available that I'd rather have than Dupree...

Also... Ohio State is the first team to win the national championship and not have a single first rounder since 2002 (also OSU).

Yea, alot different than the Jarvis Jones pick. Guy could be a legit end in a 4-3. Jones in no way could

Would probably have needed to move up then to get a quality CB. 22 is a rough spot to draft, too many decent guys so judgment comes into play but I don't really trust Colbert and Tomlin to make good decisions so we are perpetually screwed.

Everyone saying this was one of the best picks of the first round so of course steelers fans hate it.

I would have either moved up or moved back. I guess I can live with Dupree if they take corners later, but we said similar things in 2013 and 2012. In 2012 they took an RB (who's been quite good, to be fair) and a WR who has been decent. In 2013 they took a DE who was left on the sidelines to watch Cam Thomas get rag-dolled and a hummingbird who gets 2 plays a game. I'll believe they are capable of drafting corners with reasonably high draft picks when it actually happens. While everyone talks about the pass rush helping the secondary, it would probably help the pass rush if the corners could ever be in the same zip code as the receivers.

I hated the pick last night, but after sleeping on it, I really don't know what else they could have done. The defense needs help everywhere, including pass rush. I really don't feel this was another case of the "a good pass rush makes the pass coverage better" Steelers philosophy. Dupree was far and away the best player left on their draft board and it was too early to take one of the defensive backs left. The value too good to pass up and it fits a need. Hopefully he'll be able to come in an immediately supplant Moats as the starting LOLB.

Looks like the next round of defensive backs should include: Darby, Collins, Collins, Carter, Williams, Rowe, and Jackson. One of those guys has to be around when the Steelers pick in the 2nd round. I'd probably go DB in the third round as well (though I think they'll go WR or TE). Just start accumulating guys. One of them has to stick at some point.

I would like the Steelers to target Jesse James TE Penn State in the 4th round. Has alot of sick ability similar to a Gronk skillset

6'7" 254 pounds with speed... I think he's going to be a good TE in the NFL, and would absolutely love for him to get drafted by the Steelers.

Heath is still solid so he could be a project guy too. But it seems like the Steelers dont draft this sort of tight end. Hopefully it changes because I think this kid could be awesome down the line. Plus he went to South Allegheny I believe

I'm at peace with the Dupree pick. Can't pass up that value, and I'm happy they didn't reach a bit just to say they grabbed a CB or something.

From what I've read about him (and going through his Twitter feed), he seems like a really likable guy too, which is nice.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the steelers aim for Collins out of LSU, even if they have to trade up a bit to get him. He could be a really special player. I also really like Rowe out of Utah, but then again I'm not a pro scout.
