Don't most airlines ban kids from first class? I thought this was the case.

Ah, your kid is sub-2 years of age and so counted as a lap infant? You didn't buy him an actual ticket.

That makes more sense. He was attached to my ticket and didn't have his own.

Generally, I'm a pretty easy going guy......... but I can't vouch for my conduct if Mrs Tif and I pony up for 1st class for some 14-hr long haul, and end up next to a squawk box with an ear infection...................

Was listening to a radio show this week, and the topic was carry-on bags. I was unaware that there is no uniform standard for the size of the bags (United, for example, excludes the wheels and handles in the length measurement), and the discussion was about ways to improve and modernize the boarding process. One of the callers was a 757 captain with a major carrier based in NY. As the conversation progressed he revealed the #1 non-mechanical reason for delays in pushback time..........................
Families who purchased tickets throughout the cabin and engage the crew to help find them seats together once boarding has completed.

Should kids be able to fly on an airplane?
non-mechanical reason
Seems reasonable actually. What other non-mechanical reasons are there for delay that one would think are more common?

I'd never considered they would go onto the plane before playing the family card. I guess not piping up until the last possible moment gives them leverage. When I complained about it, I was talking about them hassling the folks the gate.

To those with an air of entitlement it probably does.Source of the post Seems reasonable actually.

Yeah, if you wait until you're actually on the plain to say anything, you're a jackwagon of a family.I'd never considered they would go onto the plane before playing the family card. Makes sense, though, from their standpoint. If they ask at the gate, they stand to get "Sorry, we're not able to do that" or whatever. If they do it on the plane, they borrow the crew's authority to coerce people into moving. It's also impossible to know who is sitting beside a family member.Makes sense, though, from their standpoint.
