What if you put peanuts between two pieces of bread?
Then it's a sandwich, just like anything else you put between two pieces of bread.

Unless it's another piece of bread. Then it's a stack of bread, not a sandwich.

If sunflower seeds were in there, I'd go with that. Otherwise cashews are slightly better than almonds.

what if you throw some mayo on that and have yourself a real white person treat? Can it be considered a bread sandwich?

Cashews #1, followed by pecans, pistachios and almonds all close together.
it's a gross thing to eat plain, raw pecans. unless you enjoy eating dirt.

almonds are the best. objectively so.
I'm not sure I've ever had a raw pecan. But if you're going to bring raw into the equation, a raw, unsalted cashew is no great shakes either. Pecan pies are awesome.

Never cracked a pee-kan shell? There's lots of splintering of shell involved if you don't do it right.

they have their place... sitting around munching on them is not that place. That's why I didn't pick pecans or walnuts either. They're good in certain situations, but if I'm just having a handful of nuts, it's cashews all day.

Almost forgot to mention - toasted hickory nuts are awesome. We have 2 producing trees, with another a year or two away from first crop.

http://artofeating.com/shagbark-hickory-nuts/
“They are the nobility of nuts,” the chef Odessa Piper says, “what the black truffle is to mushrooms.” Shagbark hickory nuts have “more flavor… more snap, more tooth-feel than either pecans or walnuts.” Unlike most nuts, toasting is required to intensify their flavor and create the shattering texture that makes them unique.
If @dodint goes to a farmer's market this fall, you'll likely see some for sale up there.
