Did anybody own a Nomad back in the day? I had a Gameboy and Game Gear but man did I want a Nomad.

I can talk about video game, specifically Nintendo nostalgia all day every day.
Ditto. The NES and gameboy and Super Mario Bros especially were such huge parts of my childhood.

I’m still shocked that at least one person here didn’t buy a Neo Geo.
Someone did mention a 3DS in passing.

I wanted one. It played full-size Genesis carts, right?

I just found a box with a Sega Master System in it. I know it's missing either the power cord or the video cable because I've never played it. It probably has about 15 games with it. I'll probably find out what it needs, buy it, and then send it to eBay.

Yeah full size carts and had controller inputs. It could also be plugged into a TV which basically turned it into a Genesis. Apparently the battery life was horrible though.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm still chasing that euphoric high from those old Apple II and NES games I played for hours and hours of my life back when I was a kid. Choplifter, Wings of Fury, Rescue Raiders, Super Mario Brothers, Ice Hockey, ExciteBike, various NES baseball games, Tecmo Bowl...I'll get close for a few seconds or two with modern games, but the moment is fleeting and surrounded by hours of frustration or tech support troubleshooting.

I think the last NES game I played seriously was Blades of Steel in sixth or seventh grade. We moved and the NES didn't get setup again after that until I was an adult.

The best Apple II games were Oregon Trail and Odell Lake.

Anybody with emulators or the Switch Classic should give River City Ransom on NES a try. Played it for the first time a few months ago and it's a lot of fun. Adventure fighting game with a great RPG element of upgrading characters based on spending the quarters you collect from beating up punk-ass fools, and the main level theme is a banger.

@LITT hooked me up with his vintage console way back during the LGP days and I'm forever grateful.

Between those two, and Bases Loaded/Baseball Stars and Tecmo Bowl/Tecmo Super Bowl, I had all 4 sports covered.

I missed out on the SNES back in the day (had a Genesis), so I don't have the nostalgia for some of those games I probably would otherwise.

ALTTP is great but I've honestly played it way more in the SMZ3 randomizer than I've ever played the base game. Super Metroid I've played a ton on its own. Metroid Prime is still my favorite in that series though.

Favorite Zelda... Probably Ocarina, but only because of the weapon situation in Breath of the Wild. That would be a near perfect game for me otherwise.

Had an Atari 2600 (the original large woodgrain model), Atari 7800, NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy, and DS. Once I got to college I mostly switched to PC gaming (starting with games like Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, and Wing Commander on an i386). Also played some games on the Apple II. Except for the Nintendo DS, which I bought mostly to play the DS Castlevania games, I've been almost exclusively a PC gamer for at least 20 years, although I do play Plants v. Zombies 2 on my phone and tablet. I've never owned any Sony, Sega, or Microsoft consoles.

I agree that Atari 2600 Pac-Man was a more disappointing game than ET. In addition to what iamjs said, Pac-Man was an existing game, so we all knew what it was supposed to look and play like. ET was a novel game, and while it sucked plenty on its own, Pac-Man sucked worse because of the comparison to the original game.

But then again, I went all in on a RetroPi build and loaded all of my old, favorite games on it...and used it about four times. I just can't get into those old games, no matter how fun they were back in the day. We have Switch Online as well, and I played a few of the old NES games and had a slightly better time with them...but it's still not the same.

Thanks to randomizers, I play at least one run of Metroid Prime 1 + 2 per week, and occasionally mix in an SMZ3 seed. Those are more rare though because they typically take 5+ hours for me to complete.

I would not be playing the base games with that frequency whatsoever.

This dude just became the first person in 18 years to beat Halo 2 LASO (Legendary difficulty with All Skulls On) without a single death, winning a $20k bounty.

Anybody here have an EverDrive 64? I'm trying to figure out a way to justify that cost to my wife.

That lets you dump all the roms for N64 games to it right? I mean I'd just say the cost of that (what is it these days 300ish?) will pay for itself with the price of N64 cartridges these days after about 5-10 games.

I have a z64 Mr. Backup somewhere in storage. It used Zip drive to backup carts to Zip disks.

Yep. It’s $200 and apparently you can buy a preloaded sd card with all the games for $25. It’s insanely tempting.

I've been using a headset and mic in Halo for a few weeks now, and I'm surprised at how nice it has been for the most part. It wasn't until yesterday where one of my teammates spent the last 10 seconds of a match telling the rest of us that we sucked ass... and this was the guy who came in 3rd on our team, lol.

I have been playing the Halo Master Chief collection, wrapping up the first game now. They did a great job updating the graphics in this version.

You can hit a button to go back to vintage graphics, and I forgot how plain they were.
