Fiesta mode in Halo is pretty fun.
Some games I wind up with a plasma pistol and mangler. Those are not fun, lol.

CTF on Aquarius can die in a **** fire. I think my teams are 0-20 in that match, and I hate every second of it.

Playing with my buddies that are new to the game in ranked was a blast. Went 29k 4d in one slayer, and 28k and 11d in another. Tack on a 35k 10d CTF match.

Yesterday was a blood bath for me. Lost 90% of the matches, and went from Gold 3 to teetering on Gold 1. Lost an oddball match 100-99 as I was killed at 99. Just awful all around, and I don’t know if it’s just me playing not great or other ****. Definitely noticed a bunch of desync issues.

Oh, and if you’re playing Ranked, don’t **** leave the game. Strongholds with 3 players is damn near impossible at this level.

Today hasn’t been much better. I’m going to need to watch some videos of pros playing, because I have to be doing something wrong. I don’t understand how I’m getting killed in so few shots, and I seem to be getting nothing but headshot. How the **** is that possible with me moving around so much? Meanwhile, I either have to aim for the body to guarantee hits, or whiz bullets past their ears on every shot.

Also, melee being this broken is quickly turning me off the game. It’s bad enough that there’s no collision, but add in desync issues and melee simply being broken, and it leads to a lot of frustration.

What's the cheating situation on Halo like, assuming you are playing crossplay. I'm talking actual hackers, not funky controller mods or mouse/KB players on console.

The funny thing with BF 2042 is really can't tell the numbers of cheaters. No traditional scoreboard so you can't see if a guy is going 200-1, no chat with the other team, and general wonkiness, it's hard to tell.

But I'll tell you what: there is fun to be had with 2042. My youngest son and I enjoy zipping around in a Bolte running over people. We placed first on a 128 player server with 50 kills and 50 assists each. Mostly from running people over - probably poor console saps with 55 FOV or whatever. #RIP

Ninja Gaiden is just as hard as I remembered as a kid. Holy Jesus.

Damn near threw my controller through my CRT last night and I only made it to 4-2.

Ninja Gaiden is **** evil. Act 6 is downright diabolical. The stages themselves are brutal, then you have the gauntlet of bosses where if you die it takes you to the beginning of the Act.

I've never been able to beat all 3 in one go. Usually I would beat the first then die to Jacquio because you lose all your ninja power between battles. So I would have to play through the entire act at least twice to beat the damn game.

Apparently it is possible to avoid the demon's head, but I've never pulled it off - you lose like half your health bar from that ****, which makes the last fight way more stressful than it would be otherwise.

Someone actually managed to beat the game without taking damage... I don't know how they pulled it off or why they subjected themselves to that.

Way too many cheaters in Halo. Videos are being posted to the subs daily. Tracking through walls, shots through walls, etc. I don’t get why people think that’s fun.

The hits that send you directly into a pit of death are infuriating...or the hits that knock you into another enemy for another hit...and it happens over and over.

Also the damn eagles/birds.....ugh.

It's not even an unfair game really. The controls are tight in general...it's just really **** hard.

I'm just not nearly as good as I was 30 years ago (and even then I wasn't that great). My reflexes just aren't as quick. I will perservere though lol.

Went back to solo/controller Ranked, where I’m Bronze 3, and played five matches. Every single match, there are at least two Platinum’s on the opposing team, and a low gold. Every single one. Halo’s SBMM is in serious need of adjustment.

I've been picking up lots of retro video games lately since we set up the "retro" corner in the basement with the CRT.

I snagged a CIB copy of NHL 94 for Sega for $13 since its my favorite hockey game ever. Found a little surprise inside when I looked in the manual and saw the original trading cards that were packed in with the game as well as an order form if you wanted to order some EA tshirts or the 4 person sega adapater. Pretty cool.

It seems the Xbox shortage is just about over. I've seen plenty of posts where people are walking into Target or other stores to buy one. If you look on StockX, you can get a Series X for only $75 over retail. PS5 is still at $635 so the demand is still higher.

That's awesome. I love NHL 94 but my unpopular opinion is that 96 is a much better game and the best 16 bit hockey game. Graphics and controls are as good as it gets for the systems. 97 and 98 were released on 16 bit platforms as well but both felt like the red-headed step child since the 32-bit era arrived.

I think I have spent almost as much time in training mode in Halo and in Settings as I have been playing in matches, just trying to help with aiming. It's been difficult to track players, and I suspect that it's because I'm going up against better gamers. I switched back to the default look thumbstick on the Elite 2, as I noticed that I am overcorrecting with the rounded one. Seems to have helped, and based on yesterday's matches, I'd say there has been an overall improvement.

I still teeter on whether or not to play more in solo/controller versus open/crossplay to avoid as much bullshit as possible.

I'm going to hook up my Sega Genesis this weekend, and if it still works, I'm putting it on eBay. I don't have any interest in playing it, and we're trying to pare down the **** for our impending move this summer. I looked into doing this 4-5 years ago and the average price for a used Genesis was $30-40, but it seems a lot higher now. Like everything else, I guess.

I have one Sega controller and one non-Sega controller, obviously, I'll include those with the Genesis. Should I include the two games I still have (NHL 96 and NBA Live 96)? Or should those be separate sales?

with BF2042 being trash, I've been really left without a game to play. I gotta figure something out soon. Getting bored with video games is depressing.

Did you know that BF2042 runs so poorly that one of the cheat makers stopped selling cheats for it? They blame poor performance and low interest in BF2042 cheats.

I don't play video games as much as I used to regardless, but in my prime, I would sink 3-4 hours a day the first few months of a BF title. I put in about that much in a week or ten days. It just doesn't hold my attention.

That being said, my younger son and I had fun teaming up on a server last weekend. And it's good to play with my brother again, as he's on PS5 and I'm on PC. We haven't played a BF game together since BF2. So it has its moments, but the game is just bland.
