Madden is fun enough. The actual gameplay isnt terrible, its actually fairly fun. The problem is, well, the other modes are lacking so massively that it is hard to even consider giving the game real money.

Unrelated, been playing through the XCOM series over the past month, I had forgotten how fun that series can be. XCOM 2 is also so much cooler compared to XCOM 1.

I would hope the NFL would do something but didn't they just sign through 2026?
Yep. There has to be some sort of opt out clause but I don't know jack about video game exclusivity contracts. I miss NFL2k.

My kids are having fun with it, but they play it differently than I used to play sports games.

They play these challenges to get points to unlock players for their ultimate team.

I always like picking a team and playing/simming for a few seasons and try to win a Cup/championship. They play to build a fantasy team, which they rarely play full games with.

But they love it. <shrugs>

I refuse to buy Madden this year. I'm a franchise guy, and they once again just ignored that mode. I doubt anything will change though, but here is to hoping.

All i ever do is sim/scout/draft and since it hasn't changed since 2018 - I just download it when it's free on EA Access.

EA Access is the only reason I played this years. It just misses the mark with how little they changed things from last year. Add in how much I hate the commentary...

The last Madden game I bought was the one with Polamalu and Fitz on the cover.

The gameplay ones are funny, but Imma give 'em a pass on that first one. Reusing old assets is pretty commonplace in the industry, regardless of the title.

It shows laziness though IMO and lack of attention to detail.

Speaking of laziness, EA isn't releasing NHL21 on next gen.

It would probably be some stripped down version if they did put it out on next gen anyways. That happened this generation the first year of both Madden and NHL were both bare bones the first year. Now it would be nice if they took the time to make next years game on next gen be the best it can be, but I'm not hopeful for that either.

Oh for sure. The NHL series on PS4/XBO never even caught up to the features of NHL 15/16 on PS3/X360. I'm guessing COVID is putting a hurting on development times as well.

I remember the one time EA launched BF4 on five platforms - last gen consoles, next gen (PS4, XBOX1), and PC. The patching process was horrendous, and the old gen versions were severely gimped. BF titles are built on 64 players, but the PS3 and 360 couldn't handle that on all modes, so it was gimped down to 32 or 48 (or lower) on most modes. Also, it hurt the higher end PC and consoles as well, as they couldn't have too many assets load in because the old generation didn't have the RAM.

No wonder they aren't bothering with next gen this year.

Don't fret. NHL22 is going to be a stripped down version of the game either way. They're just delaying the game for a year to increase expectations AND disappointment when people realize it's NHL 14 all over again.

I like Red Dead Redemption 2. But whoever designed the control setup for the fishing minigame deserves a kick to the groin.

Tony Hawk comes out at 9 tonight. They did such a good job with the warehouse on the demo release, it's been fun being transported back 20 years ago, looking forward to the rest of it. My 10 yr old is already beating me in combo high scores and I'm not thrilled about where I am in life right now.

I actually was looking for a game to play, and I think this might be it. Would love to have a nostalgia trip this weekend. I've been burning out on CoD.

I hope they added in a free skate mode. IIRC the originals only had the timed levels.

Oh create a park is in? I'm gonna spend so much time on this game. I LOVED these games when I was a kid - SKATE took over, but 1 and 2 THPS were fantastic.

I liked 1-3 but I spent a TON of time on Underground. I hate you, Eric.
