@NAN have you played Yoshi's Crafted World? It is not the hardest game in the world but super fun, especially if you enjoyed Yoshi's Island for SNES. My daughter loves it.
I have not. I may have to look into it.

I've been delegated to night time playing as the kids took over the Switch playing Animal Crossing. :(

Update on Xbox Live Gold Pricing
https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2021/01/22/ ... ssion=true

The price for Xbox Live Gold has doubled. It's now $120 for one year. This is an absolutely horrible move from MS. I understand they want to push people toward Game Pass, but this is straight up anti-consumer. PS+ is half the price. Switch online is $20/year. Also, free to play games like Fortnite will still require Xbox Live, unlike Playstation. This is going to backfire. Rather than driving users to Game Pass, they'll drive users to PS5.

I bought 3 years of discounted GPU, but this doesn't seem like a smart move, especially given the timing.

Yeah, I'm locked in until late 2023 I think, so this won't affect me for a while. But this is still a horrible move. 5 months ago there were rumors that MS was going to kill Xbox Live Gold completely, go for free online multiplayer access, and really push the library aspect of Game Pass along with adding some other new features. This is obviously the opposite of that. The concept of paying for online multiplayer on consoles needs to die.

Watch Sony bump their pricing, too.

If they were smart, they'd keep it the same and emphasize how much cheaper they are than Xbox. Microsoft is acting like they're the ones in first place. All Sony has to do is stay the course and they come out smelling like roses.

I agree, but you also know that people will still buy it, and that will be enough reason for Sony to increase their profits. At least they can now set a price point that's still lower than MS.

That's a pretty shitty move by Microsoft. Hopefully Sony doesn't follow suit, but I'm locked in till the end of 2022 with PS+ right now so it wouldn't effect me super soon if they did up it.

Guess I'm gonna start buying PS+ game passes now. I'm good till next year, but this move means PS likely isn't far behind.

Wait, do they only mean for new people?
So, what does this mean for you?

If you’re an existing online 12-month or 6-month Xbox Live Gold member, there’s no price change. If you choose to renew your membership, it will renew at the current price.

No, that means if you're locked into a subscription you're good. They're not going to retroactively increase your price. But when it comes time to renew, whether you handle that manually or have it set to auto renew, you'll be paying the new price.

I'm reading "if you choose to renew it will renew at the current price" as "the price you are currently paying"

I'm reading the current price as the newly announced price. I just can't see them grandfathering in that many people.

I read it as, you're good until your subscription runs out, at that point you're charged the new price.

Right. Your subscription runs out when it has to renew, right? So whether that is next month, 6 months from now, or 2 years from now, when it does renew it will be under the increased price.

Evidently, Microsoft thinks that by increasing the price on Live, making it closer to the Gold Pass, people will upgrade to Gold. Bold move, cotton.
