same used to find a house not near anything and stockpile and hide and last into the top 15 or 10 and get totally destroyed when it was my shotgun vs their rocket launchers. now i just go right at it and see what happens. Few top tens, I think 5th is my best. Squads is way more fun thoughive had 3 second place finishes. i started jumping in to relative unknown and foraging from there. i now jump in to the **** and get ready for battle.what's your best finish? some of these maniacs building at the end make me think i'll never win.. 6th is my best. Though squads is more fun
good game imo

Won 2 duos games, and at least 4 squad games last night. I was playing with some college age kids that are absolutely killer at the game. One game we dropped 34 kills between 3 of us, as one died early on at Tilted. I had 4, another had 12, and the third had 18.ive had 3 second place finishes. i started jumping in to relative unknown and foraging from there. i now jump in to the **** and get ready for battle.what's your best finish? some of these maniacs building at the end make me think i'll never win.. 6th is my best. I need some help: I have NEVER owned any gaming console, and I haven't played any video games in about 2 decades. But, being a (Czech) history enthusiast, I am seriously thinking about getting the above mentioned Kingdom Come: Deliverance (the review looks really interesting: https://www.pcworld.com/article/3254197 ... eview.html ).
I see this as ONE TIME deal - so I think this will be my only game for another 2 decades. Now, the game website https://www.kingdomcomerpg.com/ offers PC version of the game (in addition to Xbox and PS). I need somebody's "qualified judgement":
A) How much worse my gaming experience will be on PC as opposed to a console? (I'd play the game on ~2 years old Dell Precision M 6700 workstation.)
B) Since I really have just the workstation and a mouse, what else will I likely need (if, say, joystick - how low can I go to get me just by)?
Thanks!!

I have not researched that game specifically, but I did notice it uses the Crytek game engine (i.e. the foundation of the game) which is very CPU and GPU intensive. So, a Dell workstation won't even load the game more than likely. You will need a gaming PC, probably in the $800-1000 range for it to run well.
The good news is you won't need a joystick to play it. Keyboard and mouse should be fine.
Honestly, you may be better off getting a PS4 or Xbox to play it. You can say it's for your kids to use.

I played Chrono Trigger a long time ago. That game was classic. Unfortunately to get it now it's like $100+ and it's not in my collection.I loved Earthbound. After Earthbound I'm going to play Secret of Mana. Very similar.

CryEnegine is no joke; it's a total system killer if your rig isn't up to scratch.I have not researched that game specifically, but I did notice it uses the Crytek game engine (i.e. the foundation of the game) which is very CPU and GPU intensive.

I would expand on DG's claim about the cost of a gaming rig to run CryEngine to its fullest potential; I think it would probably more in the $1,200 range, because you're talking about super-powered GFX cards, and they require substantial power supplies and cooling. You could easily get to $1,000 just on a suitable GFX card and CPU/mobo.
Shyster is, of course, completely accurate. But in this situation, where it's a one-off, I think you need to rationalize the expense. It's easier to defend a $400 spend on a PS4 Pro, than three times that much on a dedicated gaming rig.

Well, the last few posts have been one sad, sad eye-opener.
It looks like the world of gaming really advanced since the ~1993? when I played my last (and only) single-color game on a revolutionary NOTEBOOK with the width of a brick (some kind of jet fighter flying to Lybia or Iraq or some other 3rd territory).
Just to confirm (and to show the true extend of my ignorance) - if I buy Xbox or PS4 (by the way, which one?) do I need to buy anything else, or does it simply go 'HDMI style" somewhere?

Looks like the XBox One S or whatever it is called is the best performing console.

You will need an HDMI cable, unless the newer consoles come with one (they probably don't). It should come with one controller, which is fine...until your kids need to use it. You will need a subscription to Xbox Live or Playstation Plus to use online services - but I would assume you can still get patches for free without that service. But if you don't intend on playing others online or using online services, you might not need that.Just to confirm (and to show the true extend of my ignorance) - if I buy Xbox or PS4 (by the way, which one?) do I need to buy anything else, or does it simply go 'HDMI style" somewhere?
The PS4 is the bestselling console since its launch in 2013, iirc. But if you are going with one game (for now), it really doesn't matter which one you end up with.

Bear in mind if you have any plans to tap into the expanded performance of the XBONEX, you'll also have to buy a suitable display. So it's not a $600 nut, it's more of a $900-$1000 hit, and suddenly we're back to the PC-v-console question. If you're just going to run 1080p, the head-to-head differences between PS4 and the other are nominal, imo.
XBONEX is the better performing console at the moment, but PS4 Pro offers better exclusives (which I think are stupid, but there you go), and a more mature ecosystem, if any of that matters. I'm not totally ready to commit to 4K gaming yet, so the better graphical performance of the XBONEX at 1080 isn't super compelling to me. Then again, I get sweet employee discounts on PlayStation stuff, so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

I might not have expressed myself clearly. The real question I had was: given that I played one video game in 1993, I plan to play the second one in 2018, what is the simplest, cheapest console that will let the Kingdom Come not freeze on me. I understand that with the top equipment, the game is so realistic I probably will get blood splashed off the screen on me, but I don't have to have everything...Bear in mind if you have any plans to tap into the expanded performance of the XBONEX, you'll also have to buy a suitable display.
