Hopefully will get it set up tonight. I still don't know exactly where it's going to go because this Mofo is HUGE. Probably will have to sit on top of my shelving rather than on a shelf itself. Will post thoughts though after I get it up and running.Post your thoughts once you have some time.I'm not going to go into the bad things I may or may not have had to do haha... but I have a PS5 in my possession.

Just to show you a size comparison compared to my PS4 pro that is vertical with a stand... not sure if I'm gonna leave it vertical or flip it horizontal.

I actually have a rule about kitchen hardware: Flush ends on horizontal pulls below counter height to prevent walk-by snags.
Also, the PS5 is enormous.

Kitchen was already remodled before we moved in, so not our choice of hardware and haven't through about replacing. I have not snagged myself on it yet.
Quick PS5 thoughts.
1. It's a huge Mofo
2. It's very quiet (compared to the jet engine PS4)
3. Setup was a breeze and very quick. Plugged in my external HDD with my PS4 games, and downloaded my cloud saves and ready to go.
4. Gave an option to install a game while it was running setup which was nice
5. The controller is a huge step up over the Ps3/Ps4 controller. It's legit. It feels great and plays great and the dualsense stuff is awesome.
6. The Menu UI and moving around is very snappy
7. The pack in game Astros playroom does a good job of showing off the controller and is fun but kind of hard.
Going to dive into spiderman later to really see what this thing can do, but so far it's pretty big step up from the PS4 from what I've messed with so far.

FYI: NHL 21 is already on sale for $35. That’s probably a bad sign.

My favorite space game of all time, Elite Dangerous, is free on the epic games store until Nov 26th. This is for PC.

So I played Spiderman Miles Morales last night for about 2 hours. Hollyyyyy Shiiiiit. It looks incredible. The original spiderman on Ps4 looked great, but this is a significant step up.
You have an option of performance mode or fidelity mode. Performance mode is not true 4k, but runs at a locked 60FPS, and Fidelity mode runs at a locked 30FPS with Ray tracing and true 4k etc. Both look incredible, but the Fidelity mode is show stopping.
Now with that being said I think it's up to each individual player on what they prefer. Running at a locked 60FPS with a game like this that relies on fast movement and combat is very nice to have. It's smooooth on performance mode. It's smooth on Fidelity mode to, but you can tell the difference with the framerate and combat etc. For me the tradeoff to get faster framerate is worth it as the game still looks incredible in that mode.
I also fired of God Of War as well, and being able to play that at a locked 60FPS as well is a huge upgrade. The system doesn't struggle like my PS4 Pro did to run it, its looks great, and plays like it should. Smooth.
All in all I think Sony did a smart thing putting out an Exclusive like Spiderman at launch as well as a remastered Demon Souls that is a huge step up from what it was on the PS3. It's not a perfect system by any means , but it's slick, smooth, and has great games at launch and the new controller is the real deal. I don't know if I can go back to the old Dual Shock controller.
My biggest issue right now is the lack of an option to expand the internal SSD. There is a slot for it, but it's disabled and going to be enabled down the road. I'm assuming once Sony comes up with their own SSD like microsoft did and can charge $$$$ for it. There is an option for USB storage, but it can only store PS4 games, you can't even put PS5 games on there to store which is realllly realllly dumb.
The supply issue is still a bunch of horseshit, and is on Sony. It should not be as hard as it is to secure a system at launch.

I snagged one off of ebay for a few hundred above retail. Everything I had seen had been $1000 or above, then one popped for $850 for the disc version(including shipping ), I immediately clicked buy it now without hesitation.. I had used my discover card to make the purchase on the off chance I got F'd over so I could just have them cancel the charge.
I felt dirty doing it, but I had just sold some of my old home theater equipment, so it basically made it wash for me with the extra that I paid above retail.
I'm not proud of what I did, but it is what it is and I can't undo it ha.

If you have the money, and wanted it now. Can't blame you for that lol.
I'm in the "it'll be out when it comes out, but until then just agonize by visiting retailers multiple times."

Do both of these units support keyboard and mouse natively? I don't want to get into the morality and ethics of it at this time. Just curious.

Xbox natively supports kb&m but it's up to the developer to enable it for their game.
@skullman80 , what TV/monitor are you using? Can you do 120fps?

I actually bought a new tv for the downstairs recently and it does support 120hz, it also supports VRR, but the PS5 doesn't support it.Xbox natively supports kb&m but it's up to the developer to enable it for their game.

I've always been an Xbox guy but I plan to pick up a PS5 in a few years when the price drops. I need that Spiderman game.

I've always been a PS guy, although I did have an OG Xbox, and a 360. The RROD issues basically made me swear off their consoles. I had so000 many issues with my 360. I did have a One x for a short period of time now that I think of it (to play Gears and Dead Rising when it was an exclusive) but it basically collected dust.I'm still working with a 60hz 1080p TV so I don't feel like I'm truly in the next gen yet.I actually bought a new tv for the downstairs recently and it does support 120hz, it also supports VRR, but the PS5 doesn't support it.Xbox natively supports kb&m but it's up to the developer to enable it for their game.

The other main reason I always stuck with PS was the exclusives (and also their early adoption of DVD and Blu-Ray giving you a dual use machine). They just have more games I like to play in general. Uncharted Series, Last of Us series, God of War series, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spiderman, Infamous series etc.
In any event the gaming world is a better place when both consoles do well. I was never into fanboy wars, play whatever system you like and just be glad we have lots of choices in general for gaming these days.

Wonder how much difference there would be between 1080p 120hz and 4k 120hz?
Video Games
I don't tend to play a lot of single player adventure games, which basically make up the majority of PS exclusives. I'm sure I've talked about it before on here but they're just not my thing. I get bored easily, I hate watching cut scenes, there are times when I don't have time to play a game for a week or so and I totally forget what quest I was doing or where I'm supposed to go. But I'm gonna need a PS5 for Spiderman and Last of Us at some point.
My favorite trend in the last few years with gaming is cross play. Last night, I played Cold War with five friends. Me and another dude were on Xbox Series X, one on the OG Xbox One, one on PS4, and one on PS5. And it worked pretty flawlessly. That's incredible.
