Funny that the one time you want a trailer to actually show you stuff, and they failed miserably.

Haven't looked back in this thread, has anyone played the N64 games on the Switch yet?

For any of the PUBG fans there is a beta version of a game out that runs until December 27th that is fairly similar. Game is called Super People, pretty lame name, but the looting and gun play is pretty similar. This game has super soldiers with specific powers. You can craft upgrades for weapons, and gear.

Damn so close. You lost me at “super soldiers with specific powers.” Im guessing it’s PC only anyway.

Played Halo for nearly 4 hours straight tonight without realizing it, so I guess I like it more than I thought.

Currently PC only for the beta, I'd imagine they'll release for console if it does well. Honestly the special powers are a neat addition to a BR.

The appeal about PUBG is the lack of super powers or futuristic weapons. It’s why I’m still playing after all these years because there hasn’t been a legit alternative.

This game doesn't have any futuristic weapons, just standard weapons like M4, SKS, K98, MP5, etc. Power ups and super powers aren't too crazy, since you still have to play tactical. Takes time to unlock them each match and they have cool downs.

If it comes to console I’ll try it out. Im always on the lookout for a new BR.

The grapple hook in Halo is worth playing alone.

Speaking of PUBG, it's going free to play on Jan 12. Unfortunately I think it's probably about 3 years too late. Still, if you're looking for a challenging game with an incredible learning curve that'll piss you off like no game you've ever played before while at the same time being the most satisfying when you actually get a W, check it out. It's the only game that has ever made me feel like there are high stakes involved.

Spent the weekend rehabbing my wife's 30+ year old NES system. Installed a new 72 pin connector, and cleaned it out real good. Disassembled and cleaned out all the cartridges. Some were really dirty/nasty with grime and such. Cleaned the outer shell and got it looking not as dingy. Controllers all still work as they should just needed a bit of a cleanup. I'll still probably pick up a top loader at some point just for reliability.

The thing runs pretty damn flawlessly now. Not perfect, but for being as old as it is... I'll take it.

Her old Sega works good too after cleaning out the cartridge slot and cleaning the games. Waiting for a composite cable and new power adapter (old one is pretty worn and showing bare wires haha) to come so I don't have to use the RF hookup. She wants an N64 to play Mario 64 so that is next up. Gonna put that CRT TV I got for 60$ to good use now.

Haha........ I've been griping about the poor AI in Far Cry 6, so I fired up FC5 to see if it was just me. F**king hell, it was so much harder. It was actually kinda funny how awful I was.

Finished Halo: Infinite’s single player campaign this evening. Of course, I put myself at a disadvantage by not getting more Spartan Cores, etc before doing the main levels. So now I’m just running around the map and killing anything that moves. The modified energy sword is absurd. Two strikes and I’m taking down Brutes and above.

I feel as though some of the lesser characters were harder to beat than bigger ones - especially Harbinger, which I thought was way too easy.

All in all, this is easily the best Halo game that I’ve played. The grappleshot alone makes it worth playing.

So I bought my wife an N64 today with Super Mario 64. It was in pretty good shape and tested it before I took it home. I still cleaned it up some more, and cleaned up the contacts on the cartridge slot and the game. Fired it up and all worked well. Joystick is tight on the N64 controller as it should be.

I still can't play it worth a crap..as I hate the N64 controller, but my wife should be excited to play. I wrapped it up though and an making her wait till Christmas as she had just mentioned she wanted one since we hooked up the NES and the Genesis. I told her I would be on the lookout for one but didn't say how soon I would try to pick one up. I think she will be pretty surprised.

I also picked up the original TMNT for the NES today to try to relive my childhood nightmares. It's still just as cheap and hard as I remember. It only took me two tries to get past the bombs in the water damn level, but I'm still nowhere near as good as I was when I was a kid.

Far Cry 6 just had a 15 gig patch that has had no discernible impact on gameplay whatsoever. But I did get to meet Danny Trejo in the game. I got to do a castle defense mission while he made tacos. It was actually kinda fun.

I am trash at Escape From Tarkov, but I rarely play with anyone. Gonna need to find a group of people I guess.

@Morkle I've been home this week with various sick kids, so I've had time to play the 64 player CQ and Breakthrough game modes on 2042. It at least runs really well at those player counts. Shame those are limited time featured modes.

Yea, that's all I've been playing is the 64 version. The map design is better, but still very bland. I can't believe how **** they made this series with the destruction and lack of cover.

Yeah, it seems they throw out what works in previous games for each new BF title. Kaliedoscope 64 on breakthrough. The attackers have no cover in many spawn points, so if you don't immediately push forward, the defenders camp at the out of bounds and wipe out the attackers as they spawn. Like who thought that was a reasonable thing to do? Nearly every map/mode in BT has issues like this.

I guess it's because of the huge turnover at DICE the last few years. Not too many veteran devs left.
