This reminds me of the old NES baseball games. Easy to learn, but with a higher learning curve to get really good at it. I like The Show, but it's very complex and whatever the sports game version of sweaty (at times). I want a dumbed down Tecmo Bowl version of a baseball game. This might be it.I bought Super Mega Baseball 4 on a whim. Absolutely fun game, Franchise is very deep for what it is, and a high learning curve to master. It's addicting as hell.

It's a blast, hard to put down. With TheShow I play one game a night. This one, I can rip 2-3 and not think anything of it. Mostly because I don't have to think about changing pitchers right away, etc.

I am full bore hooked on TOTK. I forgot how much fun it was to explore the world, and the expanded map (underground, sky, etc.) is great so far.
I spent like four hours randomly exploring but then figured I should at least start the main quest lines after the starting area

What's the deal with Diablo IV? Anyone playing that? It appears to be a rare, well received, AAA game that works at launch.

I just have no interest in games in that style, the Birds Eye view player.

Re The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
I can't recall a presumptive AAA title getting panned this hard and this universally in my adult life. I mean, I spent a decade in interactive on the business side, and I got to see a fair share of behind-the-scenes failures...... the point is, you didn't see them. They were not public fails. Their epic awfulness was kept close and few people outside [company name] ever got wind of the stench. Or the titles were released with little-to-no fanfare in the hopes of quietly generating a few incremental dollars of revenue, but with the nod-wink hope that no one would really talk about the title. (I'm looking at you here, Battle: Los Angeles)
Developers - and publishers - are broken this way. Chances are good this got to the finish line (if you can call it that) solely on the strength of the IP license, and that's a shame, as LOTR deserves so much better than what the last couple years have yielded. This dev also has the new RoboCop game coming out later this year, and now I'm worried about it, too.

Shadows of Mordor was a great LOTR game and I hate LOTR.

I'm enjoying it so far. Had early access and played most of the weekend. It kind of takes some elements of D2 and D3, as well as concepts from other ARPGs and brings it together in one game. What's the deal with Diablo IV? Anyone playing that? It appears to be a rare, well received, AAA game that works at launch.
The world is huge... you can easily spend days just exploring the full map, doing sidequests, etc. There are of course sections you can only get to by advancing the story however.
Story wise, it is very dark. Have not completed it yet as I've been spending a decent amount of time just exploring and doing some of the side content.
There are people of course already dodinting up a storm about different things but other than a few hiccups over the weekend, I can't complain so far. I can easily see this being another massive time sink like its predecessors.

Thanks for the insight. The game is incredible. I prefer simpler games, but went hard on this one. My kid has beaten it 7 times now. I still have fun just going from place to place wiping out camps. You can pretty much play it however you want. It can be tough, but I never felt like I wanted to put the controller down and walk away. It's very easy to get sucked in. It's probably up there amongst the best games I've ever playedSo I'm trying to decide whether I want to give elden ring a shot. Because I don't really have a ton of time to invest in gaming I've generally avoided souls type games because I don't want to play for an hour of two, die 40 times, and accomplish nothing gamewise. I've read a few things online recently about how this one being open world gives players more options, and it isn't necessarily as brutal as Bloodborne or demon's souls because you can generally avoid big baddies until you're better prepared.
Anyone in here confirm that sentiment? Is it more accessible than the others and worth a shot, or is it a 'nah, dawg, stick to your Wild Hearts and Monster Hunter.'
Just downloaded it and am going to give it a go.

That looks way more fun than I thought it would. The last few MK games have been pretty good to be honest, but rebooting/continuing and updating the stuff from MK1 seems like a solid idea with the new elements that have already been in the last few MK games.

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or the movie thread, but read where universal is close to a deal with Nintendo to make a zelda movie due to the success of the Mario movie. I would love it.

Oh no doubt they’re going to milk any Nintendo property now. Zelda, Metroid, Mario, DK, Splatoon, etc. Nintendo Cinematic Universe is definitely happening with an Avengers style team up with Super Smash Bros.

I have significantly less interest in other Nintendo properties.

That may be the one Xbox game that has me cautiously optimistic.
Edit: I just read that it runs at 30fps on XSX. lol, JFC what a disappointment. That is simply unacceptable in 2023.

They're revealing some gameplay of it today on UbiForward, so I'll be really interested to see that. From what I understand, it's an open-world game, in some ways carrying on what was rumored to be in Star Wars: 1313. It reportedly runs on the Snowdrop engine so if you've played any of the The Division games, you'll be familiar with that. This has potential:

Huh, TIL. I thought The Division was an Anvil game.

I can't wait to see how the modders will make spacesuits slutty. Plus that robot companion is totally getting modded into like a robot Japanese anime girl or something similar within like 24 hours of the game's release.

Guys, it's a Bethesda game. And it's using a warmed-over variant of the same Creation Engine used in Skyrim and Fallout 4. Those are some of the most-heavily modded games in existence. The first nude mod should be out within 12 hours of the PC release, and by a week all of the perverts making Skyrim sex mods should have shifted over to making sure that Starfield players have the opportunity to bone (and get boned by) every alien race in the game.
