I'm not saying that the PS5 controller is awful (most previous Sony controllers were trash). It's decent. But the Elite 2 is superior.

Microsoft is miles behind Sony's exclusive game. It's not even close at this point.

PlayStation crushing the exclusives isn't really a new or even recent development. It was a business decision Sony made when they launched Gen 1 in the mid 90s*, and simultaneously MSFT just didn't view it as worthwhile at the time. They've been playing from behind ever since.

Sony as a game publisher is on par with Activision in terms of both unit sales and dollar volume, they pretty much double up MSFT. And historically that has consistently and conclusively been reflected in hardware sales, not just for Sony but for Nintendo as another 1st party hardware/software developer. If you look at the fifteen best-selling consoles of all time, there are two Xboxes, and the rest of list is split between various PlayStation and Nintendo devices.





* Two of their flagship 1st party developers - Naughty Dog and Insomniac - were 3rd party but still PS-exclusive games when they each shipped their first titles in 1995. That's how far back the console exclusive strategy goes for Sony.

Man I haven't bought a physical disk in a long time. Part of me worries that I won't be able to access my digital library once the system is obsolete but another more realistic part of me knows that unlike the consoles of my youth, I won't have any desire to go back to Xbox One/Series X later in life. There's no nostalgia here. Plus, I mostly play multiplayer so once those servers are gone, those games are dead.

That's going to be an issue IMO for the future if you want to go back and play some old games. They'll either be gone if it was a digital order once the system support shuts down, or if you do have the physical copy, it will be the unfinished games due to the multiple downloads needed.

Unless future systems just have those game playable like the Switch has the Nintendo Channel with the NES, Super NES, N64, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance and Genisis games (limited library for all), you won't have the gaming experience to go back to like we do with the aforementioned systems (in a physical regard).

Yeah that's my thought as well. I'm not too worried about it, though. Like I said, I mostly play multiplayer so once those servers are gone, I won't be able to play the mode I enjoyed anyway. If I do get a bug up my butt as an old man and want to go back to this gen for some reason, I'm sure I will be able to pick up a used copy of whatever pretty easily.

The convenience of digital games is worth the potential hassle that old nocera will have to deal with.

Actually, this got me thinking: I haven't got my 360 out of storage since I brought my Xbox One home. I still regularly play NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, hell even Dreamcast games, but I think that's where my nostalgia ends.

I still have my 360 hooked up at my parents' house and play NCAA 11 when I'm there overnight, since there's no backward compatibility for the NCAA games.
