Also I hope they price it smartly and have a decent launch lineup.

They better put a 4k blu ray player in that thing.
General Info
The official name is PlayStation 5.
Releasing Holidays 2020.
Ray tracing support is hardware-based.
New SSD will help boot times, loading times and streaming.
The controller now has adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, new speakers, USB Type-C.
Physical games for the console will use 100 GB optical disks.
Optical drive also acts as a 4k Blu-ray player.

Additional Info
The dev kits (which were leaked) are actually real and developers have access to them.
A new modular approach to storing data. Finer grain access to data, as opposed to big blocks. Ex: Users might have the ability to install only Multiplayer components of the game.
Completely revamped UI.
The new controller will have a larger battery capacity and will be a bit heavier than Dualshock 4.
Haptic feedback for PS4 Pro's Dual Shock 4 could have been implemented, but was decided against.
Bluepoint studios (folks behind the Shadow of the Colossus remaster) are working on a "big" PS5 title.
The GPU has been used to power Machine learning.

They've got to keep it at a $300 price point, right?

Microsoft can't possibly do any worse than they did when they announced the Xbox One, the basically gifted Sony the win for the entire generation before the consoles even came out. They recovered a little bit, but never all the way.

Cross-play will be pretty much standard by then, right?

It worked flawlessly on the COD beta, and of course Minecraft and Fortnite have had it for years.

They **** up the Xbox One launch so badly but ever since Phil Spencer took over they've been killing it. They are the ones that have pushed backwards compatibility and cross play so much that Sony finally had to give in. I prefer Xbox because I like the controller, BC, and the infrastructure. But it's slowly getting to a point where it doesn't matter which console you choose.

I like my PS4 mainly for the exclusives. I did have an XB1 for a bit though, and it was a fine machine, I just never played anything on it besides Gears. I agree though both systems are pretty much even now, and next gen will be the same. People will buy based on exclusives, which system their friends play more on, backwards compatibility etc.

Just get a switch
Nintendo doesn't make games that interest me anymore, plus their tech is a generation or two behind at this point. They have a niche and they make lots of $$$ and I get that, but nothing they do interests me at all game wise or console wise. I grew up on playing NES, but I am just not interested in Mario games, or Zelda games etc any more.

Same. Nintendo is smart in that it separates itself entirely from Sony and Microsoft and markets their consoles toward a much younger demographic. I'm very far removed from that demographic.

Ditto. I have old consoles for that. If I'm playing a Mario series game, I'll do it on an NES or a GameCube.

I barely play my PS4. There's no reason for me to pony up some $ for a Switch.

I'm the opposite in that I feel like I want to play all of these games on XBOX and PS, but can't seem to find the time and Nintendo has always been there for me.

I got to noodle around with some stuff on an early PS5 dev kit (built into a PS4 dev kit chassis), so that was neat.

If that's not the Cuphead team, they better get their lawyers on the phone.

Eh it looks like those cell phone game knockoffs like "Modern Combat 5 Shooting Game."

Cuphead was great because every detail was totally thought through and the game was a fully realized homage to the 30s cartoons of Disney and Fleischer. I don't know what Enchanted Portals is besides a Cuphead knockoff. The flash animation looks like **** compared to the hand drawn animations in Cuphead. The music makes no sense except that's the style of music from Cuphead. Shouldn't it be some sort of fantasy music and not jazz/big band?

175GB HDD space required for the new COD game.

Also, BFV is free the next few weekends for PC players. Hackerfest, unfortunately.

I've been playing Metro Redux. I chose Ranger mode. Pretty nice adventure\shooter game. Think I give it about 8 out of 10. Enjoying it!
