Flash back to when people were selling "PS3 Box" on eBay for $500+ when they were released. Selling literally just the box, but the ad made it sound like you were getting the actual unit.
The 'best' one of those I remember was the guy that bought a picture of a PS3 box.

I shouldn't laugh.
Hustlers gonna hustle. Xbox Series X "digital image only" listings have popped up on ebay:

I hope people do their best to avoid buying from scalping **** like that. Make them eat the cost.

The first year or two of Series X/PS5 are going to be cross gen. Unless you're coming from a 360 or PS3, there's no need to HAVE to upgrade immediately. There should be plenty consoles available after the holidays.

Imagine not reading the ebay listing and buying a digital image for $700. I also read that Xbox One X is up 700% on Amazon sales. Whoops.

Apparently PSN is having a massive "Big in Japan" sale now. If you've ever been remotely interested in the Yakuza series, $7.99 for Yakuza 0 is a goddamn steal for the amount of content that game provides.

I think it was "sales rank", but the underlying point is still made.

Part of me is hoping that it was bots trying to take pre-orders from people, but my guess is clueless parents who just see "Xbox" and "X"

One of the video game-centric Facebook groups I'm in had a member ask yesterday if buying a PS3 now made any sense.

No. It does not.

This has made me realize I haven't turned on my 4Pro since March 15th.

I've been working my way thru the DLC for BOTW. Man, still love exploring that world. I have the Korok mask now so that has given me something else to do.

Just started the middle trials of the Trial of the Sword....damn, this takes some serious strategy.

Anyone here have kids who play Roblox? If so, what devices are you playing it on? It absolutely bombs on both my daughter's Chromebook as well as her Kindle Fire HD8.

My kids randomly get on Roblox on our gaming PCs, but also are known to play on my parents' ten year old Mac. Seems to run well on that, and the gaming PCs are overkill. Is it on Xbox?

I think so, but I'm not letting her play it there. It ended up being the 'realm' or whatever she was trying to access. She was able to get into a different one and play. The game is dumb.

Oh yeah, it's stupid...but hugely popular. My kids play some football game, even though they have multiple versions of Madden available (and are good at it, naturally). They go through phases with it, but they played it a lot more regularly when they were your daughter's age. Make sure in game purchases are turned off, as that can suck your wallet dry...

Wasn't there some weird sexual assault story or weird sexual content with roblox online?

I hadn't heard that. I know the text chat is heavily censored. So there's that.

I disabled all of that nonsense, and it has a PIN lock on the settings.

Xbox expansion packs up on Best Buy:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/seagate-1t ... Id=6425015

$220. So, as far as I can tell you can use your existing external drives for games that are NOT optimized for Series X. Optimized games can only be played off the internal drive or this expansion pack. You can, however, store your Series X games on any external and transfer them to the internal to play.

Xbox is making a mistake Sony did going the proprietary route with expanded memory. Sony did that with the Vita or whatever, you couldn't use stadard sd cards, you had to use their specific sony branded ones. I honestly hadn't looked up how much an external 1TD SSD drive was in general, so it may not be that far off.

In any event.... with the size of games these days, neither xbox or sony are going to have enough memory space out of the box for someone who plays lots of games and doesn't trade them in or delete them off their HDD.

Also the you can transfer from any external drive to the internal one when you want to play is silly and I hope neither Sony or MS thinks that is a legit viable option.

I mean, it would only take 4-5 minutes to transfer a 100 gb game from a decent external to the internal. It's not ideal but it's a hell of a lot better than shelling out another $200. I think the 1Tb internal is going to be fine for me, though. I tend to grind one or two games at a time so I won't have a bunch that need installed at once.

Coincidently, I just read this article:

Xbox Family Settings App Available Now on iOS and Android to Help Manage Children’s Gaming
https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/09/24/ ... ssion=true

Not sure if the kids play on Xbox, but with this app you can:
Screen time limits – set limits for each day of the week; for example, you can allow for more game time on the weekends or reduce it during the school week. And a new feature available today allows parents to proactive grant additional screen time – a great option if they did well on a test or completed their homework!
Content filters – set filters based on the age of each child; for example, an 8-year-old can only access games that are rated E and will be blocked from accessing titles that are intended for more mature players
Play and communication settings – choose the option to block all access to play and communication with other players, limit access to “friends only” or grant permission for older children to play and chat with “everyone”
Friends list – new with the app is the ability to approve or decline friend requests your child has made to add friends; parents can also view their friends list
Activity reports – view daily and weekly activity reports for each child to understand how they are spending their time on Xbox
Microsoft should start paying me for this ****.

I should probably create an Xbox account for my daughter so that she's not using mine..........
