After railing against exclusivity as of late, I wonder if Microsoft will makes those titles Xbox/PC exclusives?

That's pretty yuge. Maybe my hair won't be grey when TES VI comes out.

So does anyone have Xbox GamePass? It seems that it's going to be insane value now that Microsoft bought Zenimax.
I'm now swinging back towards Xbox, if GamePass is truly worth it.

I had it for a year when they were running a sale. I tend to grind one or two games at a time rather than jump around, but it was definitely a hell of a value. I was able to play games that I probably never would have otherwise. Now that EA Access is included, the value shoots up even more. I'll likely go back to Game Pass once my Live sub is up.So does anyone have Xbox GamePass? It seems that it's going to be insane value now that Microsoft bought Zenimax.

So that's what I'm thinking is what's tipping the scales. I don't play many solo exclusives - so I'd miss out on PS4 stuff. But I literally play EA Access - CoD / Battlefield / GTA
GamesPass may actually give me more reason to just jump around and try things.

Yeah I tried out a ton of games that I wouldn't have been able to play without it. Games like Day Z, Untitled Goose Game, Forza, Mortal Kombat X, Arkham Knight. I probably wouldn't have bought any of those on their own but I enjoyed each on Game Pass. COD/GTA likely will never be on Game Pass, though, so watch out for that.

Well yea, what I meant there was that I'd just buy those games, and the ones I play aren't really limited to exclusivity.
So is the games pass laggy, does it download to your box? how does it work?

It acts like any other game you'd buy/download from the Xbox/PS store. The game downloads and you play it locally from your hard drive, so there are no issues with lag since you're not streaming it. Basically there's a section of the Xbox store that is specifically for game pass and you can browse there. Alternatively, you can go to the game pass website/app, or even to your "my games" section where every Game Pass game will be listed. You just need to download to play.Well yea, what I meant there was that I'd just buy those games, and the ones I play aren't really limited to exclusivity.

awesome, thanks for the answers - knew nothing about it, but wasn't interested in streaming games. Glad you can download them.

There isn't really a business case for a First Party hardware manufacturer owning dev studios/publishers that produce titles that compete with their platform. But that seems to be MSFT's playbook, which I don't really understand. After railing against exclusivity as of late, I wonder if Microsoft will makes those titles Xbox/PC exclusives?
If you look at the flagship titles from the ZeniMax studios...Scrolls, Fallout, Doom, etc..... I think they've all sold more units on PlayStation than on PC/XBox combined. So MSFT is giving themselves a 100% stake in a pie that's 50% smaller today than it was yesterday. I honestly don't get it.
I'd also love to see the internal email chains between the ZeniMax board members that lead to the decision to sell. You've got Jerry Bruckheimer, a dead Trump, and CBS sex offender guy, I bet that's quite a read.

Microsoft has been taking the stance that they don't care how you play, as long as they somehow get a kickback. At the same time, the biggest knock against the Xbox has been exclusives. They haven't made it public whether they purchased Bethesda with the intention of going exclusive but that's the assumption.

Fiance and I have been playing through Crash Bandicoot 1 N. Sane trilogy version. It's fun as hell but I don't remember it being this challenging back in 96. Did I get worse in my old age?

Crash was hard even back in the day. It seems even harder now because my reflexes aren't nearly as good.

Got to the top of the mountain and the Bo-bomb king tossed me off back to the beginning. I was so embarrassed, I shut it down for the day. So weird playing Mario 64 again

OG Crash was hella hard, mostly because of the Crash Cam levels and D-pad controls.

I almost lost a controller due to the Road to Nowhere level. Pretty sure we were stuck on that for a solid 3 days.

Yeah Crash 1 is toooooooooooouuuuuuuuuugh. I, too, almost lost a controller and that damn bridge level.

Doesn't Target honor their REDcard 5% discount on video game consoles? If so, that's a no brainer, right?
Video Games
They do. I'm trying for Target today since it'll save me about $20. Well, mostly because the fiance gave me the okay to get it but added "if you can use our REDcard, that would be nice." Which translates to: "fine, you gigantic man-baby, you can get a new video game system, but at least save us a few bucks in the process."Doesn't Target honor their REDcard 5% discount on video game consoles? Man I am having such a hard time deciding between Xbox and PS. I was all in PS like a week ago. But this Gamepass thing really flipped the switch since EA access is involved in it now.

I get so confused with xbox online play. Is the Xbox game pass thing all I need to play online with other people or is that different?
Video Games
Why not both?
Honestly, you can't go wrong either way. PS5 has the best exclusives, Xbox has Game Pass. If I could get both, I would. I'm going Xbox because I've been an Xbox guy since the OG, my friends all have Xbox which makes partying up easier, and I prefer the controller.

You'll need either Xbox Live or Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Live is the base online service, enabling multiplayer online. I believe it's $60/year but there are sales throughout the year that can lower that price. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is Live + a gaming subscription service. Basically Netflix for games. $14.99/month. I'm not sure if you can pay per year.I get so confused with xbox online play. Is the Xbox game pass thing all I need to play online with other people or is that different?

For PC, you can pay for an entire year for Xbox Game Pass, and it does go on sale frequently.
Also for PC, they have crazy promos like $1 for 3 months or stuff like that. I might do another trial just to see if MS Flight Simulator will run well on my PC. I mean, it should, with a R5 2600, 16GB of DDR4, and a 5700XT GPU. But who knows.
