Watching this made me super pumped for the game so I decided to peruse the interwebs for some hype articles about the game. Instead came across leaked gameplay and confirmed spoilers that are just terrible. Whoever wrote this game should be jettisoned to Venus.

Meh, the spoilers I've read about sound perfectly believable and interesting from a story perspective.

Mario 64: 20 stars down, 100 to go. I still have my saved 120 star game from when I was a kid. I can't bring myself to delete it.

Renewing all those music licenses is no easy task. I'm sure there will be some songs that don't/can't make the jump.

Why the hell didn't Nintendo make the minis so that they could be updated with new games?

They just got SNES games to their online play, I have no idea why they are so bad at this. On the plus side I can now save Rygar with it coming to online

It's like they hate easy money. They could've added an online store on the NES & SNES minis and raked in the dough.

I don't understand the hate that game gets. I mean sure it's a piece of **** but I've played way worse pieces of ****. Why is that singled out as the worst game of all time? There are worse Atari games.

They actually made more E.T. cartridges than there were Atari systems at the time. It was expected to be a blockbuster system seller and it fell on its face. It's a combination of it being a high profile release, not meeting expectations, being a pretty aggravating game, and the landfill lore. The mid-80s video game crash happened right after as well.

The documentary Atari: Game Over goes into great detail on the development of the game and subsequent failure. I think it's on Netflix or Prime still.

:thumb: Good info. I had no idea they made more cartridges than there were consoles. That seems... dumb. I'll check out that documentary. I just remember playing it as a kid, being annoyed that I had no idea what to do, then tossing that **** to the side and playing Circus Atari instead.

Dude, I was pumped to see Rygar added this week. That was one of my favorite games as a kid, but I could never finish it because it was so long, but had no save function. I'd try to leave it on over night, etc, but I think my brother always shut it off.

That said, I'm not that disappointed in the NES/Super NES online game listing. Could it be better? Sure, but for $20 a year, they have plenty of games IMO that keep me busy while also playing my switch games.

I'm also a guy that has 600+ of the original NES cartridges, so chances are that I can play most games I want anytime (my original NES still works). Also have 50+ Super NES games and every single N64 game. All authentic.

Yeah, watch that doc, it was pretty good. ET was bad, but I think it gets it's reputation that it came out right when the home video market crashed in the early 80s and many blamed ET for that due to the reasons donint stated.

They'd have to build in online capabilities into those minis, which were intended to be simple pick me ups for nostalgic people that didn't want to spend a ton of money on a liminted supply of minisystems.

The focus is on the switch, where it should be. Nintendo is definitely not hurting for money. They are pretty good at making it.

Yeah, that all makes sense. My disappointment is mainly because it feels like I'm starting over with these retro games with each console. The switch has been the best so far when it comes to these, but I want N64 games already

How much you pay for that Conker's Bad Fur Day cartridge?

I think I paid $50 for it at the time. I paid $150 for Clayfighters Sculpturs Cut and $90 for Worms Armeggedon. Stunt Racer and Super Bowling I got early on too before this whole video game thing blew up a few years ago.

I was fortunate that I started collecting a lot of these NES and N64 games long before prices blew up. I got Ducktales 2 for the NES at a flea market back in like 2001 for like $15. Found Cowboy Kid for the NES for like $10 at a flea market.

I also have every Nintendo power magazine (most were from when I was a kid and kept in great shape), and my favorite is the Mario/Zelda/Punch Out Trophy figures complete in box. Had most from when I was a kid, and got the ones I needed to complete long before they blew up.

ET is certainly not the worst game in terms of gameplay, but it's certainly one of the most disastrous of all time in terms of bombing vs expectations.

That said, it is very, very bad.
