I played one of the old ones (2 maybe?) and it was very heavy on the quicktime event style crap where you just have to hit X at the right time to continue the event. Not my style. Is it still that way?

It is much different. From what I watched it is more about knowing how to counter attacks and attacking when able. Much less button mashing.

I plan on picking up GoW soon. I was hesitant because I hated the last one and never finished it. Loved GoW3 though.

I saw some people say it is more like Dark Souls than the original GoW games. I haven't played Dark Souls so I can't say that for sure.

If God of war is now like dark souls that would suck. I play video games to unwind not torture myself and die every 5 seconds. I have the new gow downloaded and installed hope to get to play it soon. I have a huge backlog though.

Activision really doesn't want me to buy Black Ops 3. In addition to it being multiplayer only, it's now rumored to include wall running, boost jumps, and grappling hooks. I'm shocked they haven't announced a battle royale mode yet.

It is nice for getting the battle pass challenges done. Unlocked my John Wick skin last night.

I really need to make an effort to play and complete the games in my collection. It's quite sad actually.

Just downloaded Company of Heroes again, which I bought on Steam like six years ago I think

PUBG mobile added an arcade mode, which is capped at 28 total players and you get dropped in the middle of a small circle. It's bonkers, because you aim for a building or structure to loot, you usually drop with other players...which means a lot of frying pan vs. fist fights.

Hackers have found a hardware exploit that allows one to jailbreak a Nintendo Switch, meaning they can run Linux or other open source operating systems. You will eventually see cracked ROMs for Switch games available on file sharing sites soon, etc.

So you can pretty much play pirated ROMs and Indie games for free on the Switch? Should I go out and pick one up before Nintendo fixes this?

It is a hardware issue so anything currently on the shelf and I'd imagine anything for the next few months will be hackable. However there will be software fixes along the way to weed out the hacked ROMs and indie games.

PUBG test servers go live tonight with the new desert map (and supposedly a few other things). Looking forward to trying it out. Is this the first time a console has had a test server? Seems like a uniquely PC thing.

Battlefield had test environment servers for consoles for BF4 and perhaps BF1.

BF1 support ends in June, which seems early. BF4 had support past BF1's release.

:thumb: Is the Battlefield test environment a separate download? The PUBG test server is basically it's own game and is a 10+gb download.

Also, when you say BF1 support ends, do you mean they're shutting the game's servers down so no more online multiplayer?

The desert map is just coming out for PUBG? Yeesh, it has been out for a while on PC. Most of the streamers that play the game prefer the original map, so you may be let down.

Now that our master bedroom reno is complete, I was able to turn one of the spare rooms into a home office/gaming room. It's so nice to walk in and see all my old consoles hooked up and ready to play at a moments notice.

Once I finished setting it all up last night, I popped in the Super Mario 64 cartridge and went to town on it.

Oh no, just they won't be adding new content or new usability patches. Only emergency fixes for gamebreaking bugs/exploits. The servers will be active for a while. They still have server support for BF3 from 2011.

Battlefield Community Test Environment (CTE) is a completely separate download and installation, in the 20-30GB range. I was much more involved with BF4's CTE, and it really fixed that game and added a bunch of new community developed maps, weapons, balancing, and so on. It was really great. I don't play BF1 much, so I didn't really do anything with that version of CTE.
