Nah, the best single player was against AI bots.

(But you're right BC2's SP campaign was excellent though).

Got the Bioshock remastered series and have been playing it for a few days now. Forgot how much fun the original games were. Real nice FPS\RPG and good quality with the remastering.

Looks like they made FIFA a bit more risqué this year.

I'm getting a little burned out on Fallout, and my Kerbal addiction is flaring back up. There's a new update (version 1.2) for KSP that's in beta testing, and as soon as it's out and the modders catch up, I'm back to launching rockets. I'm looking forward to this update. They added a new optional mode where probes and other non-piloted ships cannot be fully controlled unless they're in contact with a ground-based tracking station, another ship that has a pilot, or a communications-relay satellite. It will give a player a reason to launch a constellation of communications satellites.

I've always preferred science mode to the full career mode, starting from the days when science mode was the career mode. I just can't stand the procedural contracts (i.e., "test this part at this altitude at this velocity"). I want to say back to the game, "Look, here's my offer for a contract. You give me a bunch of money, and I land a Kerbal on every biome on the Mun. Now get out of my way." I think there's a mod out there that gets rid of the contracts in career mode and gives money and reputation for each point of science collected. If it works with the new version, I may try that out.

It looks like the biggest of the communication dishes will have a range a little beyond Jool orbit or so, and maybe even up to Eeloo at Eeloo's closest approach in the stock game. That's not going to be too hard. Install the Outer Planets Mod, however, and one is definitely going to need a deep-space relay network in order to have full control of long-range probes.

Yeah. In career mode you complete contracts, and completing a contract gives money, science, and reputation. Some of the contracts are set (such as "achieve orbit") but a bunch are procedurally generated. Science is used to unlock new nodes in the tech tree. Money is used to upgrade facilities, to build new rockets (each part has a cost associated with it), and to "buy" the new parts in unlocked tech-tree nodes. High reputation gives you better contracts and more money. There are also "strategies" in the game where you can trade one of those three commodities for another. For example, the "Fundraising Campaign" campaign takes a portion of the reputation earned and converts it to cash. "Aggressive Negotiations" lowers part costs but costs reputation. "Outsourced R&D" takes money and converts it to science.

I would note the game is missing multiple real-world strategies, such as "Bribe Congressman (Kongressman?) For More Funding" and "Have A Subcontractor In Every State So That Voting Down Your Funding Will Always Kill Local Jobs."

Yes, I know they've had some turnover lately, and even Felipe has left the company (KSP was originally his idea). I'm not too worried. Unlike a lot of early access/Kickstarter type games, KSP is a complete and playable game even if there's no further development at all, and the modding community would pick up support if necessary. I have heard stories that they don't pay their developers too well and work them to death, but that doesn't sound much different from a lot of other tech companies.

KSP was always a strange bird anyway because its developer—Squad—is not a video-game company. Squad (which is based in Mexico City) is actually a marketing firm. Felipe was one of their best marketers, and he told them in the middle of an ad campaign that he wanted to quit and work on an idea for a video game he had. The owners didn't want to lose him, so they told him he could create the game as a company project after he finished up his ad campaign. That turned into KSP. That side project they did to keep an employee turned into the most successful thing the company ever did.

Were the first two games any good? I mean, they must have been fairly okay if they made two sequels.

Mafia II was really good.

I'm tempted to buy an Xbox one now just for gears of war 4.

Wrestling and tomb raider(for ps4 finally) come out next week too...ugh my wallet hates me.

I had a $6 left on giftcards that I never used, and decided to use it to buy the first Witcher book, The Last Wish. It's a collection of short stories featuring Geralt.

I only read the first 30 pages, but so far so good. It begins with Geralt taking on a Witcher contract. Reading it felt like I was playing a sidequest in the Witcher 3 -- or maybe I should say playing the Wither 3 felt like reading the book.

I actually considered buying it. I'll get it used, 2k16 was actually pretty fun for a game like that.
