PRIME DAY - JULY 15TH

https://www.amazon.com/Castrol-03063-MA ... 00JGQLS64/

Castrol 03063 GTX MAGNATEC 5W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil, 5 Quart for $18. You can get it as low as $16 if you get the high mileage blend. I picked up two containers for my van. Nice.
I usually just get the deal-of-the-week with the filter at Advance Auto. Is this much different after I end up buying a $6-8 filter?
$24 for 5qt and a filter seems like a deal to me. I normally just pick up a 5qt jug for like $21 at Wal-Mart (Mobil1) for my cars. But this is for the van and I don't care enough about it to be brand specific so it's a screaming deal for me; particularly in that it's being delivered to my house at no extra cost.

Wal-Mart has responded to these drops with oil discounts of their own today, so you might want to cross shop their selection to see if something is better for you.

I’m thinking for timers. Having it in the kitchen, and having a display for setting timers on cooking things would be good. But I can really live without the screen. The echo and echo show 5 are the same price.
Sign up for the Thermoworks mail list. In addition to Thermapens, thermocouples, thermometers, etc, they also offer a variety of small tools like timers. And their 'Prime Day' is like every other Wednesday.

Currently, I have a little cheapo bluetooth speaker in my kitchen for music. It requires that I turn it on, connect to it, get on my phone, turn on what I want to listen to, skip a track, etc. I'm assuming an Echo dot can do all this handsfree, yes? Or just go with the Echo for better sound quality?

Edit: as a follow up, I cannot imagine a time that I would need a screen, but if the sound quality is similar to the echo, and the screen is just there, why not go with the Echo Show 5?
Yes, you can connect via Alexa so it's all hands free. Have you tried using Prime Music, assuming that you're a Prime member? I rarely connect my phone via BT anymore because they have so much. There are some radio stations that I enabled skills for, too.

As far as quality goes, it has already been said, but the Echo is superior to the dot in every way. The latest generation Dot is pretty nice, though. The first gens do not sound good while playing music.

How about echo vs echo show 5 for sound?

I honestly don't know, as I've never seen an Echo Show in person before.

Another route to go is if you have really good wireless speaker and then get echo input.

I bought it... figured at worst it'll be a more convenient method of playing music while I'm in the kitchen. I spent my "atta boy" work points to get it. Had $300 in the bank, so $50 is nothing.

I just pulled the trigger on one this afternoon. My Pixel had terrible battery life and I've been shopping around for the last month or so for its replacement. Best Buy had the Galaxy S10+ for $599 with 18 months no financing. That's about the cheapest that I've seen it since its release, which of course means it will drop even cheaper in two months.

Sale runs along the same lines as Prime Day where it expires tomorrow.

What was the name of the browser extension that would find items that would give you the exact amount to get free shipping from Amazon? For the life of me, I can't remember. I need a $1.80 book to save $5

It was pretty good, especially if you were in the market for an Amazon device. Every single one of them was the cheapest they'd ever been.

Nothing blew me away. But it wasn't as hyped as usual, imo, so my expectations were not as high as they have been in the past. $14.99 for a Firestick is probably the best deal out there.

Having read your post just now I realized I don't have the FireStick 4k on my main TV (I use my PS4 for 4k content) so I circled back and grabbed one for $24.99. I hope you get a commission.

My Pixel had terrible battery life...
Huh, what generation Pixel? I have a 2, and coming off an LG V10 that would not live a full workday without need of a charge, I've been kind of amazed at how robust the battery life is.

My Pixel 1 is coming up on the 2 year mark (in about 3 days) and the battery life is realllllly bad. I kind of expect that though at this point. I'm holding out to get a new phone though. The Pixel 3 seems not worth the upgrade/price right now. Im tempted to get the 3a just because its similar to my pixel 1 in the guts but has a few new things.

Yeah, that's why I really dislike the trend away from interchangeable batteries. I used to carry outboard charges for just batteries, so I could go from 2% to 100% in ten seconds plus a restart.

My OG Pixel was too at first... but now its really bad. I think that's just how phones are after two years or so though.
