PRIME DAY - JULY 15TH

I recommend Samsung over Sony.

I bought a Sony, had it for two years, and it had a faulty motherboard, that required so many trips that Best Buy just gave me a refund and I ended up buying a Samsung. No issues since, and I've grown to love their new Smart OS.

I'll third the vote for Samsung.

I've owned 2 HD TVs in my life, both Samsung. The first lasted 11 years before I gave it away. The current one is 5 years old and still going strong.

That reminds me that I paid $2200 for my first 46" HD TV. That was a few months before prices on those plummeted. Also bought it from Circuit City...

Haha, my 42 inch toshiba that I'm still using was purchased from Circuit City in 2007 was $1400.

I’ve got a 46” Samsung LCD from 2008 and it’s still looking good. I got it for a “steal” at $1150 back then.

My wife and I were just joking this weekend how the picture quality and capabilities of TVs have gone up as the prices have plummeted.

For context, I was a Samsung guy for a long time. Owned nothing but Samsung until last year, when I moved to Sony. OS aside, Sony’s picture quality is just better. Rtings backs me up.

I bought a wall display Samsung back in 2010 or so for $750 and it’s still going strong.

Rtings was the sole reason why I bought my Sony and I standby that the picture is miles better if adjusted correctly.

I just won’t go back after dealing with what I dealt with.

Target has a 50" element 4K TV for $199 that will stack with a 10% off circle club promo on any one electronic. Probably the cheapest I've ever seen a 50"

Some of the items I already had on my wishlist were tagged as Prime Day. So I bought that Ecobee3 Lite, and a 10-pack of full size garage lights that you can connect in series.

I was really hoping that the booster seat I wanted would be a deal, either at Amazon or Target, but alas it was not.

My buddy had an Element TV...used just for gaming mostly, held up fine...no frills really, but it didn't fall apart after at least a few years, and the discontinuation of use was just due to an upgrade, not because it failed...

I remember buying my Sony LED/LCD TV, forty some inches from best buy in 2010, and that thing cost my well over a grand. Now we've got 50 inchers for $200? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

You're confusing being a snob with providing legitimate reasons to not go ultra cheap on something that will get a lot of use.

To each his own. A $200 TV that lasts 2 years is the same as a $1000 set that lasts 10 in my book.

I disagree, but to each their own. For the reasons NPT discusses earlier, I'm going for extremely good picture quality and the ability to last with great smart features.

Cheap models don't do all three, but I can't argue if you're not interested in that stuff as much as I am.

That all being said, I had two Insignias and they were cheap and baller. They're still working and I take them outside for our deck.
