Good God John Edwards.

Is there any plausible alternative explanation for what RoGros did on lap 1 in Barcelona other than 'brain fart'?
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Vettel does the same thing *but* doesn't careen back into traffic while doing it. They just see red mist and mash the accelerator and torch their tires beyond use.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
That careening back into traffic is kind of an important distinction imo.

Honest question:
Did the following rider do that jump on purpose, or was that just a fortuitous circumstance?

It's not the same thing at all, really. But I hit a deer on my sportbike on Rt. 30 in Bedford. The moment I knew I couldn't go around it I stood up on my pegs, unloaded the suspension, and hopped over/through it.
Basically, there is a certain decision point where you have to commit and your reflexes determine whether you come down sideways or not. I think it's the same in this situation.

Yeah, I saw the driver apologized to Citroen for rooting the car. lol

Okay, let's get this out of the way. Yesterday's result was not even in the same league as Schumacher in Spain 1994. It was impressive, and I'm happy for the result. But c'mon.

I really, really hope that someone paints an "ed" after one of those sponsor logos. They walked away.

Yesterday was why I hate Monaco. The leader is down gears and power, but still no one can pass.
Monaco is a great spectacle—the harbor, the yachts, people watching from balconies, etc. But it's an absolute dogs*** race. The course is utterly unsuitable for modern F1 cars. It should have been off the calendar years ago.

Yesterday was why I love Monaco.
And let's not mince words here: There has never been an era of motor racing where the cars were suitable for those streets. The only reason the race exists was because the ACM was not formally recognized by the [precursor to the FIA] because the Monaco Rally actually takes place in France. So they needed to a create a motor race that actually took place within the Principality. It was m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-mad-mad-mad madness then, it's loopy now, and I look forward to it every year.

Patrick wrecking herself all alone with no one to blame is the perfect end to that career.
Bye Felicia.

"I'm not really sure what happened" -- DP, on her Indy shunt.
That's pretty much her entire career.

I'm grateful that this is the last time I'll have to "defend" her:
A 3 time winner, TK a one time winner, Seabass a 3 time Champ, all had the same accidents.
A perfect ending to her career would have been a sixth place finish using Dixon's strategy that would be heralded as the most amazing drive in the history of motorsport.

That's part of the rub, though. She hasn't been in an IndyCar in years and strolls in right at the beginning of a new development period like it's nothing. Crashes out on her own, has no idea why. No surprise there. Her whole racing career is built on a complete lack of awareness, it really was the perfect end.
I'm sure it was somehow the crews fault. Again.
As an aside, the superspeedway Indy cars look sexy in the press photos but ridiculous on course. With that high center intake w/loop all I see are a field of Christmas ornaments running around in circles looking for their hooks.
The racing wasn't particularly fun either. Watching that and Monaco together was a waste of a Sunday afternoon.

LOL on both counts. Listened to the DwR podcast with Sam Schmidt where he told stories of pranking new guys. Danica certainly is somebody who would go to 10 shops in town looking for 45 pounds of crossweight.
As to the car's sexiness, guess you had to be there

Yeah, the thing with DP isn't that she was in good company in shunting out. It was the "Huh, don't know what that was all about" comment that sort of captured her zeitgeist.

Is that..... never mind. *sigh*

I don’t want to see another Mustang cars and coffee clip without that Vette getting included.

Let's put a business executive behind the wheel of an over-engined performance car to lead the field around prior to the start of the race.

I hope he was treated by the guest track doctor, Trey Wingo.
