"Do you have anything to declare?"
"Yes: Thank you to Audi and Porsche for not coming to the race."

Yeah. I've been in a bit of a spat with some folks about the merits of 'how hard Toyota worked' vs. the meaning of the word 'win.'
Yeah, they bought their trophy, lets not kid ourselves.

They'll 'win' next year too.
Have you been following the 2020 faux-GT1 regs? If they don't **** it up it could turn out to be absolutely fantastic. Open design on the bodies with the intent that they'll look like road cars. No more prototypes that look like F1 cars with a top pasted on. It's the first time I've ever been excited about any class other than GT at LeMans.

I do not have high hopes for this union.

Funniest take I've seen on this is that RB is just biding their time waiting for Porsche. k.

Re: Toyota
The flip side is you can only beat the guys that show up.

Which is a nice way of saying "Paul Tracy, 2003 CART champion".

So, watching Paul Ricard on TV hurt my eyes. I'm still not sure I watched a complete lap with confidence that I knew the layout.

...Seaman rounding the La Source hairpin. Or ‘Turn 1’ as it’s probably referred-to these days...
Remembering pre-WWII Mercedes driver Dick Seaman, who died from injuries sustained on this day in 1939 [6/25/39] following his crash whilst leading the Belgian GP at Spa-Francorchamps in a works W154

Please reassure me that I'm not alone in chuckling at the driver's name.

Vettel seemed to be similarly confused on lap 1.So, watching Paul Ricard on TV hurt my eyes. I'm still not sure I watched a complete lap with confidence that I knew the layout.
Grumble grumble fantasy team grumble.

A Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo LMP1 racer, driven by Timo Bernhard, just demolished the all-time lap record at the Nürburgring by more than a minute. The video of the run looks like it's on fast-forward.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Yeah, it's bonkers. And I sincerely mean it when I say it's a bigger accomplishment than what Toyota did at LeMans.

360 km/h = 224 mph.
Bananasville
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
They averaged 160mph for the duration of the lap. hehehehehe

Circuit sizes are to scale, the outer perimeter is the Isle of Man TT.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
That's actually pretty cool, I'd rock that as a poster in the man cave.

Pikes Peak is way longer than I thought it was.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
I like how they're sort of geographically grouped. But yes, that would look sweet in a shadow box frame.
Is Pike's Peak the squiggle on the left that goes from Stowe to Buenos Aires?

Yeah. It blows right by the Top Gear Test Track enroute.
Surprised to see Indianapolis missing, the only real obvious omission to me since both Daytona and Pocono (but not it's infield) was included.

Indy's there, on the left, just a couple down from the Top Gear track.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Oh ****. The infield broke up the silhouette my brain was looking for. And it's smaller than I would've guessed, or Pocono is bigger than I thought. I've been to Pocono but everyone always talks about how megalithic Indy it is (has a golf course, lake, major metro area inside it, etc).
Thanks!
Thanks!
