I see Gasly and Albon are swapping rides. It happened even sooner than I thought it would. Verstappen shows that the Honda-powered Red Bull is perfectly capable of running at the front, and if Gasly were pulling his weight, I'm pretty sure that the Honda-powered Red Bull team would be ahead of Ferrari in the manufacturers' standings. I mean, those Honda-powered Red Bulls have two wins to Ferrari's zero, but Ferrari is still slightly ahead thanks to Leclerc pulling down a substantially higher average finish then Gasly.

I had a ridiculously bad track night. Two offs which was embarrassing enough but then I had my first ever actual spin and went flying backwards through a field. Went in with the wrong mindset and it completely ruined my night. Amazing how mental this stuff is. I went in with the idea "I MUST BEAT MY TIME!!!!!11111" and sent myself off course three times. Prior to this, at a regular track night event, I've only ever been off once and it was two wheels over a curb two years ago. I'm really trying to push out of my comfort zone but I don't really seem to have a good way of regulating that.

I feel really bad about my night.

If it makes you feel better, I did a Skippy school at Road America way back. Follow the leader stuff. We'd been out for 40 minutes or so when it started to sprinkle, and the dude in front of me got scared. Backed his entry into Hurry Downs way up, caught me out and I half-spun and stalled it.
Got it refired and tried to catch back up with my group only to totally blow my braking marker at Canada Corner and wind up in the kitty litter.

Apologized to the tow crew and they laughed and said they were thankful to actually have something to do for once.

I learned more about the lack of mental preparation and mindset than I did anything about the car. When I put my baggage away and just drove I knocked 4 seconds off my best lap.

Skippys at RA? Damn. When you say you were out there for 40 minutes you were on, what, the 3rd or 4th lap?

Just looked and FF pole was 2:40s for the Sprints, so on the treaded Skippy tire I can imagine low 3 minute range...or even slower than my Bspec will be, lol.

I find that the bigger a track is the more frustrating it can be because it's a long way around to try again if you dork something up.

I find that the bigger a track is the more frustrating it can be because it's a long way around to try again if you dork something up.

I actually understand his side. I do think RHR & Rossi come up in relation to the seams as well as Sato moving left. At the same time, he has a lane and a half to his right and was the third man in. He was the only one that knew it going in, and therefor has to give the most room in my mind.

Over half the F3 grid was penalized for that same fcknuttery.

If Vettel picks up three more penalty points on his license before the end of the Japanese GP, he will face a 1-race ban.

That whole thing with him spinning, then nearly driving directly into Stroll who complained about the dangerous rejoin..... only for Stroll himself to do almost the exact same thing to Gasly 8 seconds later.

I'm wondering if anyone at Ferrari is starting to think that they should have kept Räikkönen and dumped Vettel.

An interesting caveat to Strolls actions. Vettel was entirely off and rejoined unsafely. Stroll wasn't off, thus can't be reprimanded for an unsafe rejoin if we are to take words at their meaning.

Formula 1 race director Michael Masi says Sebastian Vettel was handed a bigger sanction than Lance Stroll for rejoining unsafely at the Italian Grand Prix because he caused a collision.

Masi said that it was the contact aspect of Vettel's manoeuvre that triggered him getting a bigger sanction despite the similarities between his and Stroll's actions.

"Basically the difference between the two, with Sebastian's one, it was one for rejoining unsafely and then the second part of that was for causing a collision," explained Masi.

"Whereas with Lance and Pierre, that was just an unsafe rejoin of the track. That's the difference between the two penalties handed out."

I would presume so. This is where Stroll came to a stop from his slide:



Looks like he 'was' indeed 'on' to me. Tough to 'rejoin' the circuit when you're already well on it. His only action, if he didn't want to wait for clear track, would be reverse and actually leave the circuit, directly into a gravel trap.

I'm not saying he didn't deserve a penalty, I think both were more than fair. Just pointing out if we're going strictly by the rule they would've had to get him for something else to be entirely within their right.
