2019 - 20.486

That's got to be..... I dunno..... it would be one thing if Schumi were in his present state because of a racing accident. But still.

Ferrari really is the best

Been binge watching F1 races from the 90s-00s on the YouTubes. It's easy to forget how utterly dominant Schumacher was compared to his peers. When he got to Ferrari in '96, it took around18 months to complete poaching the Benetton brain trust. So that meant the '96 and '97 cars were designed by the guys who scored 28 constructor points a few years prior, but the '97 car was at least developed in-season by the Benetton guys. In those two years, Schumacher scored 8 wins (including comically dominant wet races at Barcelona, Monaco, and Spa) and lead the championship going into the final race of '97..... in cars that Eddie Irvine was routinely qualifying P15 2 seconds slower than Schumi.
By '99, when the cars were good, Irv was winning races. But the gap early in their teaming up and what Schumacher was able to do in absolute dogshit 'cars' was astonishing. It made the Ferrari fan in me happy to see them winning so much, but my disdain for Schumacher made it all kind of meh. Revisiting that stuff 20 years on has been eye opening.

Thanks for that tifosi. I went on a Wikipedia run that saw me checking out the history of Formula Ford.

LOS ANGELES, California – In what is being called the largest Racing Driver Career Scam ever prosecuted, rich dads, racing team owners and driver coaches are being accused of carrying out an industry-wide fraud scheme that gets their silver-spoon sucking children in prestigious race seats. “It’s actually quite an impressive scheme that has gone on for well over a decade,” said Andrew Lelling, US Attorney, “Rich parents would bribe team owners, team managers, and driver coaches with millions of dollars each year, just to get a ride in a GT3 or LMP2 car for their undeserving child...

The beauty of watching Ferrari fall all over themselves with team orders. Magnifico!

Yeah. Was a bad look when Seb failed to pull away there. I get the logic, and Chuck wasn't pulling away from Seb either, but still.

I've been a Ferrari fan most of my life. (I mean..... tifosi......), but this team orders thing is really stupid. It's clear Chucky is a match to der Seb for pace, just let him go.

I mean, it does say Gran Turismo in the picture.

Project Cars 2 has a weird penchant for putting races in snowy conditions. Their opening title sequence includes Prototypes sliding around on completely snow covered track. These two pictures here might be the only time I've seen top level spec race cars actually tooling around in it.

I could've sworn I saw that car at the Museo Ferrari in Maranello, but if I did I did not take a photo of it.
So instead, here's photo I took of the Ferrari Indycar concept when they were threatening to leave F1 because they had to run small block V6 turbos, and they thought a convincing bluff would be to threaten defection to a series that ran turbo V8s.
