I might go work Indy (Sound Control) but I doubt I'll be able to get the car finished, go to w2w school next year, then qualify for Indy by running enough events in 2021. An unfortunate consequence of deciding to run two full years of TTN first I guess.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
2 Years of TTN should make W2W school a breeze; 3 regional weekends (which the school is usually in conjunction with your 1st) gets your full license, 1 additional and you're qualified for Runoffs (provided you're in a cake class like I am).
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
It's the cost factor. TTN weekends are cheap. RR weekends are not. Unless I'm just showing up for fun and seat time. I don't revere Indy quite enough to jump through my ass to compete in the cluster **** that is runoffs. I'm sure it will come around again someday. Or maybe I'll fall ass backwards into a pile of money, we'll see.
It's cool that you're running another MINI, I like them a lot as drivers. If I were going to look at B-spec it would have to be in a MINI.

Rear Disc brakes for the win!

Oh, adding to cost factor is my joining that land speed record team and offering my car to support the effort. The cost of towing will probably be the biggest expense.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Yeah, I need to figure out my tow vehicle situation for next spring.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Huh, ground effects are in the 2021 F1 rules package.

As I posted that, my father texted about possibly picking up a 10 year old 4WD F250 for $1500 from the HVAC place that's next to our hobby shop. Sometimes things just fall into place.Yeah, I need to figure out my tow vehicle situation for next spring.

Also, it's nice to see that Vettel driving with his head up his rear under pressure has become so commonplace that his drop kick of Max didn't even warrant commentary here, lol.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Between Hamilton being saved by the safety car and Max flying through the air with his car unharmed the all of England is fresh out of lucky golden horseshoes for a while.
Awesome value on that F-250, by the way.

I commented on either a Autosport or a Motorsport Facebook post that Vettel was the most error-prone driver I've seen in my lifetime. And someone replied that Senna was worse...... I can honestly only think of two times when he utterly cocked it up. (Monaco and Monza, both in 1988 - the year in which he won his first title) Am I forgetting a few things? Also, it's nice to see that Vettel driving with his head up his rear under pressure has become so commonplace that his drop kick of Max didn't even warrant commentary here, lol.

No, it was rougher than I imagined and I'd really prefer a crew cab or that. Conversion van is higher on the list.

I'll be sleeping in the van this weekend at Gingerman. Bought some mosquito netting for the front windows so I can leave them down all night. Have an air mattress that fits in back. Should be a pretty comfortable time. The weather is not of the #GoFYourselfKansas variety which will be a plus.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Yep. I'm thinking if I'm travelling for four or five weekend races there needs to be an option for the brood to come with me.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Similarly, I never thought I'd care enough but I totally want a swivel mount for my passenger seat in the E-350. When we went to CMP and took four of us it would've been cool if the person sitting around doing nothing up front could turn around. Particularly given the limited leg room for the front passenger due to the motor being right there.

Found it, homeslice: https://www.paulsherryconversionvans.co ... -cp13538t/Conversion van is higher on the list.
You're welcome.

35 G's. Is that thing gold plated!
CSB time: My Dad was an engineer at Ford, and they had this magnificent metallic green that made the Mark 7 just pop. My parents loved the look. So they special ordered their late 70's/early 80's Econoline with it. As one might guess, it looked horrible on that rolling billboard and only got worse as the paint faded. My sister swears that the floor boards were rusted and you could see the street (probably just went for a test drive with my father when he had the engine cover off). We all still reminisce about the yellow/green 70s shag carpet that even covered the ceiling, and that it was so thick that on the drive home from the track every time we'd hit a bump flies would buzz down out of it and then zip right back up into their safe space because we'd leave the doors open in the infield all night.

Nothing like the thought of moist shag carpeting to sober you up on a Friday morning.

So that was an interesting Open Wheel weekend. My favorite was:
HAM: How's it gone this bad?
Toto:
Everybody at home: You binned it under the safety Car.

It's a small point but 'Hamilton comes in 11th, earns two points' is the most unsurprising outcome ever.

Here is my video from Gingerman:
Was a really cool weekend. The track is pretty technical, you feel like you're turning the whole time. It took me a while to figure it out. Unfortunately I have no good video of the last two Time Attack sessions as I forgot to turn it on for one and the last session I put the camera in a really bad angle.
I did have my first two 4-off's ever, they're right after the TrackSprint segment in the video. Nothing major, I could've saved the one over the curb but I knew the Civic was coming and I didn't want to rejoin too aggressively over a curb like that so I just followed the curb out into the grass. They dropped my fastest time in the session because of it but I feel like I did the right thing.
It was a really tight battle through the weekend. I was leading after the first day, but I lost 2 seconds in TrackSprint and couldn't make it back up. I pulled within .5 of a second in the second to last session but just couldn't find more time after all was said and done. Took 2nd to a guy who got his first non-autocross win ever so it was really cool to see him excited.

Authorities say a car flipped over the infield fence at a central Pennsylvania speedway and struck a track volunteer, killing him.
The Cumberland County coroner's office said two Sprint car drivers crashed into each other while rounding a turn at Williams Grove Speedway just before 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Coroner Charles Hall said one of the cars went out of control, hit the inside wall and then flipped up and over the infield fence, striking Richard Speck Jr., who was sitting in the back of a pickup truck parked along the fence.

I forgot about this:
Cbear3 couldn't stick around to accept his first place trophy so they made me stand in for him. To make it more authentic I accepted it in the kneeling position.
Not that he's short, he's just not 6'4".
