Yeah, and speaking of the hill he says they run a shuttle from the top to the bottom which doesn't sound like a huge deal but it's very helpful. I've gone to PLM at R.ATL and holy **** the elevation change there is real and they don't have a shuttle. They want you to rent golf carts, it seems.

Haha, yeah the elevation change there is only about 20 feet less than Laguna Seca. Which is a lot.

Last tidbit from him on Sonoma: I like the left end of the stands more than the right. Better view of T9 and entry into T1.

It's amazing what excluding PC from the R24 did for eliminating FCYs. They smashed the distance record.

Official: Alonso will race the 24 Heures du Mans with Toyota's LMP1 program in 2018. His focus will remain McLaren and F1, but the deal is supposedly to get him into as many WEC events as possible.

He was okay at the R24. Didn't make any big mistakes which is probably what he was after.

Times are a changin - "grid girls" and "podium girls" will no longer going to be used during Formula One races this season!

"While the practice of employing grid girls has been a staple of Formula 1 grands prix for decades, we feel this custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms,"

http://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/42890261
I'm okay with this, cos I think this sort of thing (which is basically motor racing's version of cheerleaders) is really dumb. But I'm not totally sure this something that will give fans the sense that Liberty Media are ON IT.

It is the kind of thing that will cause a blip today and literally no human will remember when they are not on the podium.

Amazon Prime subscribers: Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming documentary series 'Grand Prix Driver', by the dude behind the amazing film 'Senna'. Follow McLaren-Honda through their fun-filled 2017 F1 season, where it is apparently revealed that Eric Boullier expressed concerns (in pre-season testing!) that he might be presiding over the death of McLaren's F1 team.

Speaking of this, has the Bruce McLaren documentary dropped anywhere?

There is a Mclaren documentary on Amazon Prime, or there was. Is there more than one?

It's not available as part of a subscription yet, but you can buy or rent it on YouTube, Amazon, and Google Play.

Grid girl strikes back
So the inevitable has happened, F1 gridgirls have been banned. Ridiculous that women who say they are "fighting for women's rights" are saying what others should and shouldn't do, stopping us from doing a job we love and are proud to do. PC gone mad 😡 #Gridgirls

Another Amazon Prime callout: The Racing Years

Year-by-year look at the F1 World Championship from 1950 through 1973. 26 30-minute episodes. Will watch.

Regarding that Land Audi penalty at the R24:
What's the lesson here? Doing too good of a job – even when the series agrees it was 100 percent legal – isn't acceptable within the constructs of a championship that relies on BoP.
https://www.racer.com/more/viewpoints/i ... mitstart=2
They trained hard, innovated within the rules, and took a 5 minute stop and hold penalty during the race.

If IMSA wants to change the rule after the race, fine. But penalizing them during the event is really shitty. It took them from 2 laps up to 2 laps down.

For the past couple days, several of the journos at Autosport have posted articles saying that the AMZN Prime series "Grand Prix Driver" is pretty excellent, and phrases like 'unprecedented access' are used frequently. Today's story is saying that if Liberty goes forward with its streaming service, it needs to offer more content like this.

Looking forward to sitting down with this.
