From the 'my wife is an awesome wife' file: I was talking to her yesterday about how I'm not sure what to do now with no school, I don't really know how to relax. It's only been one day and I'm already getting restless. Her immediate response was "Start iRacing again" as I've taken about a year off. She rules, going to set my rig back up today. I'll post my iRacing musings here unless we get a dedicated group together. I tried to organize one on the old board but since I wasn't racing it was difficult and never really took off.

The doc Senna may be the best 2 hours I have spent on Earth.

I can't bring myself to watch it a second time.

I watched it with Mrs Tif, having already watched it on my own. It was her first real exposure to Senna, and she said she finally had some understanding of why I revere the guy so much. Of course, I had to leave the room when they got to Imola.

One of the most amazing factoids I've ever heard was that between his death on Sunday and his funeral in Brazil on Wednesday, there was like zero street crime in São Paulo. The entire nation was just in a state of shock.

I was deployed in 2011 to Afghanistan, but spent my two weeks of R&R in part in Boston, was lucky to catch the documentary in a theater in Cambridge on its last day of US theatrical release. Was my wife's first real exposure to him as well.

First day from Spain does not portend an exciting race on Sunday. (Not that the circuit has put up a good race in the last 15 years)

I suppose if there were a week I have to be out of town, this is a good one.

Back in my F1 video-gaming days, I always thought Catalyuna was a sucky track. Estoril in Portugal was more interesting, and I would dump Catalyuna in a second in favor of Imola.

One of the F1 games uses Catalyuna for the tryouts at the beginning of your career. So boring trying to eek out a few extra fractions of a second just to get signed by Midland F1. Good grief.

Especially now that they've eliminated the final chicane in front of the pits. It's now a 1-km blast from the second Rivazza, flat all the way to Tamburello.

It's funny, because Estoril and Catalunya both follow a basically similar layout. Yet Estoril has almost always been regarded as a better circuit.

Ridiculous layout creates 1st turn pile-up. Not a shocker.

Second in a Skippy at Mosport, then a win at Montreal the last two weeks.
Hopped in a C Fixed Truck race and finished second with five minutes practice as well. The key there is to ride around for 15-20 laps saving tires, wait for everybody to pit and you stay out, and then just ride out the yellows. I pushed too hard on the second to last restart building up a 2.5 second lead only for another yellow to come out. Lost out to a guy on fresher tires on a restart with four to go. Not bad for my first oval race in over a year.

And Munoz topped 230 yesterday, with a host of guys in the 228s.

It's funny - they are going faster than they have at any time since The Split, but because the cars are so ponderous they actually look slow.

McLaren F1s to return to Le Mans
The mighty McLaren F1 GTRs that finished the 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours in positions 1-3-4-5 will be run at this year's Le Mans 24 Hours, as part of a special commemorative parade.

Why the everloving **** is DirecTV showing F1 races on "Comcast SportsNet Bay Area" which isn't in my package? And the DVR didn't pick up any other broadcast. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh.
