Yup, it's a great time. (Even with all the adult SW cosplayers with their light up lightsabers) The Bowl is an amazing venue, and I've been there maybe a dozen times over the years. I moved here in '97, so the prequels were coming out and there was new Star Wars music to hear the first few times I went; Duel Of The Fates with a live 100-person choir is no joke.

They always have spotlights fired up when there are shows at the Bowl, but one night I went to see JTW they played the 1941! March and a small 2-engine airplane flew through the lights and it was very amusing.

That sounds like a blast. Duel of fates would be incredible like that. I'd love to see the bowl. They doing a vaxx only deal there too ?

It's an outdoor venue, so they don't have a vax requirement despite opening up to 100% capacity. Depending on where you sit, seating there is actually more confined than some indoor venues (like The Forum, which just postponed the Foo Fighters concert we were going to Thursday), so we wouldn't be going absent a vax requirement.

I've seen everything there from John Williams, to the LA Phil, to Chris Issak (with a friend's husband serving as musical director and conducting a live ensemble), to Eddie Izzard being the first ever standup comic to headline the venue (and showing the viral video by the person that animated LEGO to the Death Star canteen bit).

Yeah the Hollywood Bowl is a great venue. I saw Williams there in 2009 or 2010 and it's one of my favorite concert experiences I've ever had. I also saw BB King and Liza Minnelli there and I don't give af what anybody says, Lucille 2 puts on a hell of a show.

Whoa, how was Chris Isaak? That would be so cool

We saw that show twice, and it was startlingly low-energy. I enjoyed talking to the friend's hubby about adapting/arranging the music for an orchestral ensemble - from a nuts-and-bolts perspective - but the actual show was sorta meh.

Watts was orders of magnitude better than Ringo.

I've always said, you can't be a great band if the drummer is the worst musician in the ensemble....................................... unless the other musicians in the band are Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison. They're the tide that lifts Ringo's dinghy.

Ringo is a stellar musician. Watts may be a better drummer (debatable) but Ringo is not just a drummer just as the rest of The Beatles weren't just guitarists or bassists or singers.

Upon George's death Ringo was the most successful Beatle by far. Does success equal talent? Modern music definitely says no. But it does mean something.

I'm not sure how to regard that take that Ringo was 'the most successful Beatle' after Harrison died, because at that point there was only the one other one left, and he was Paul McCartney. Successful at being an ex-Beatle? Successful at getting Howard Stern to adopt your catch phrase? What's your metric.

I'm a jazz fan, so when a rock drummer can successfully drum behind a jazz combo or big band, that's a big plus for me (Watts and Phil Collins naturally).

"upon George's death". And it means he was the most successful musician out of the fab 4 after the band broke up.

Neither did Ringo Starr – mostly they got a begrudging acknowledgment just for being in the Stones and the Beatles, but very few drummers were singing the praises of these guys. To be fair, it's pretty weird nowadays to have a naked kid on an album cover. That wouldn't happen now. Still, his reasoning is hilariously dumb. "It WAS cool until I wanted Nirvana to be in my art show and I had to go through their managers, therefore their album cover is now child porn."
