Lana is taking a lot of heat from people saying her album cover is not diverse enough. FFS.

Maybe they need to read the album's title again.

Legend.

My favorite performance of this song - 2001 with Steve Martin, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, Jerry Douglas, and Leon Effin Russell.

Aja's their masterpiece but apart from that, Countdown is my favorite Steely album. It didn't have any real "hits," but the material is just fantastic. Bodhisattva, Show Biz Kids, Boston Rag, My Old School.....
Listened to this album, it was great, thanks for the heads up!

^ kristoffsson is a veteran, a helicopter pilot, a rhodes scholar, an actor and writer of two of the best country songs ever in sunday morning coming down and for the good times
dude couldnt sing a lick though and willie used to kid him about.
i forget which late show it was (probably carson) and willie and kk are on the couch and both do a song on acoustic guitar, after which kk says he really wasn't in his best voice (or something like that) and willie says 'how can you tell?'

I did not compile this list but if I did it'd look very smiliar. I'd have Caves of Altamira and Night by Night much higher, though. It's also missing The Boston Rag.

So did Renée Elise Goldsberry.

CMU has an outstanding BFA program.

Ariel Pink has made some great music, but the dude is a Canaan. That’s been apparent for a long time, well before being a vocal trumpkin

I know I'm quibbling about #50 but I'd pitch Cousin Dupree (which the writer didn't really capture the nuance of, as if Steely would actually write a straightforward song about having sex with a relative) in favor of the title track to its album, Two Against Nature. The Brubeckian oddball time signature, cajun/voodoo lyrics and the syncopation hooked me on this one right away.

Also I've posted this before probably but the Aja Classic Albums episode is more than worth your time. Here's the bit about Black Cow that the "Uptown" rap clip he posted came from:

It varies day to day but most days I think I'd say "Josie" is my favorite Steely song.
