Man... Prine's death is hitting me harder than probably any prominent one in the last decade or more. I was watching the video for Summer's End and started crying halfway through. Feels bad man :(
Anyone else read this as Prince's death and think
damn! shaf is a Prince fan?
My phone did try to correct it as that ;) I do like Prince as well but not on the same level.

Fiona Apple's new album gets a perfect 10 from Pitchfork.
Whoa--this is not a headline I thought I would be reading in 2020. Man, I had a thing for her back in the "Criminal" days. 13 year old me watched that music video...ahem, a lot.

Yeah so did 27 year old me. First time I ever felt like a dirty old man.

I still don't know how to answer this. I do think this is quite brilliant:

she's a formidable woman in a nice way and once i went back and listened to her early stuff - she's more than capable of writing 'conventionally' - then listened to interviews it became very easy to appreciate her thought process and humor/bathos/pathos. so the new album strikes me more as a palette for the cleverness of her thought and delivery re the aforementioned. then the musicality (she's a player so she can't help it) sinks in.

"When does Emma Watson turn 18" was a popular Google search term at one time.

I forgot to post a reminder, but the Prince tribute concert that I attended in February aired on CBS last night. Check your provider listings to see if it's available on-demand.

Yes. Well....... 'featuring'.............

She was awful. I forget if I mentioned at the time, but she came out and had almost negative energy, and said, "Let me tell you a story about Prince"..... which got everyone to immediately sit down.

She was a downer; Beck was a downer; I swore on the day that Mavis Staples sang "I only wanted to see you purpling in the purple rain", but she was paired with The Revolution, so that's a net win; they had to do 1999 twice because of a technical glitch with the video playback, which was a shame because that meant I had to hear Juanes twice; the chump that was paired with Sheila E to sing the final gaggle number (I'm A Star iirc) didn't know the words and was bailed out by Wendy. Other than that, the whole night was pretty great. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm interested to see if they aired both songs Foo Fighters played; I figured they did two songs because the one everyone was expecting (Darling Nikki) isn't exactly network prime time friendly, and so they did another song for broadcast.

Just my opinion, they turned out to be a huge disappointment
