Fifty years ago today, Genesis released their debut album From Genesis to Revelation. It was often misplaced in the religious section of record stores.

Black Flag is coming to The Rex in August.

I've been a fan of Mike Vallely (current lead singer) since he skated with Powell-Peralta in the late 80s and have been a Black Flag fan for probably just as long. But the combo... nah. It just doesn't work for me.
Odd Pittsburgh connection for Mike Vallely: he once recorded an EP with Joe Grushecky, appropriately titled "A Weekend In Pittsburgh"

So the previous band I filled in with broke up a little under a year ago, and a few of them got me and put our own band together right around New Years (after a late night jam session).
Well, we're playing down at Claddagh tomorrow night for our first show (helps that those guys had the connections). Starts around 7:30. Kind of a variety of tunes. All covers.
If you're down there at all, come say hi after the show. I'll probably be sticking around while the adrenaline wears off.

I'm 38 and it was still cassette tapes by mail when I first started. I also have some VHS tapes of live shows. Those were the days!

Never understood the appeal of the Grateful Dead.
Similar to Phish, it's partially being in the right head space for it*, and part enjoying the musicality.
*Head space not necessarily meaning drugs, but more being open to hearing a song and seeing where the band takes it.

Yeah I get why they are popular, but to me it just doesn't work. Not really in my wheelhouse though.

I don't, they are bland rock. I used to live next door to house full of dead heads (they were always borrowing our "groovy" pan) so that may be clouding my judgement.Yeah I get why they are popular, but to me it just doesn't work. Not really in my wheelhouse though.
