Can anyone pinpoint when the Foos became the ultimate dad-rock band? I’d say when they released Learn to Fly.
Edit:Learn to Fly is when they became dad-rock, and maybe an album or two later is when they reached ultimate status.

Someone either doesn't know what dad rock is or hasn't listened to the Foos since 2002. ;)

I follow Abbey Road Studios on social, and they just shared a cool post.
The recording of Pink Floyd's debut album ‘Piper at the Gates of Dawn’ began on this day in 1967. It was the only Pink Floyd record made under founding member Syd Barrett’s leadership. The record was produced by EMI engineer Norman Smith in Studio Three at the same time The Beatles were recording ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ and The Pretty Things were recording ‘S.F. Sorrow’.
Now, I am neither a Pink Floyd fan, nor a Pretty Things fan. But I can appreciate how honored those bands must have been to be in the same building as The Beatles.

:slug: :pop:

Seriously, that must've been quite a time to be at Abbey Road.

Why aren't you a Pink Floyd fan? What's wrong with you?

Because I have listened to Floyd, and determined them to be unpalatable.

(And don't try that cheap Foo stuff on me, bub. I've seen them cover In The Flesh live with my own eyes and ears at The Forum. ;) )

To celebrate the Record Store Day release of the “Industrial Accident: The Story of Wax Trax! Records” documentary and its soundtrack, Vans will sponsor a half-dozen screening events in North America that will include a panel discussion and a “Wax Trax!-era” live set by Ministry.

The first event will be held on April 13 — which is Record Store Day — at the House of Vans in Chicago, at 113 N. Elizabeth St. Five additional tour stops are set for Brooklyn, Toronto, Austin, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Those venues have not yet been revealed, and tickets for all of the events will be available through partner record stores that have yet to be announced.

Each event will include a screening of the documentary, a live Q&A session and then performances by Ministry and Cold Cave. Al Jourgensen and Co. will play what’s being described in a news release as “a Wax Trax!-era, early ’90s set” of music — which is a little incongruous, since Ministry only released music on Wax Trax! in the early-to-mid-’80s. (Here’s hoping for a With Sympathy set over a Psalm 69 set).

Give me a) Uncle Al playing either the entire With Sympathy or Twitch album live in 2019, or b) playing "Anything For You" and "The Game Is Over" in Pittsburgh, and I'll retire from seeing another live show.

Today in classic rock stars getting old, Peter Frampton announced he has a degenerative muscle disease (IBM) and will go on a farewell tour this year. I’m not a huge Frampton fan, but it’s tough watching these 60s-70s rock stars get old.

Makes one wonder about the future of music stars in the current day.

I just can't imagine Nicki Minaj or Beyonce out there in their 70's hitting up the local Indian Casino.

Guitarist Peter Frampton has revealed he has a degenerative muscle disease and that his upcoming tour will be his last.
Feels bad man. Wish I could have seen him with the Steve Miller band last summer...

The Roxian on Chartiers in the rox is reopening in May
This week, the renovated Roxian Theatre unveiled the musical lineup for its grand opening extravaganza.

Straight out of Leeds in the U.K., the funk and soul quintet The New Mastersounds will play a free show on May 10, followed by shows from reggae outfit Iration & Pepper on May 12 and the jazz and funk collective Snarky Puppy on May 15.

The Roxian‘s reopening will offer local musicians and touring acts a venue within the 800 to 1,500 seat range, which can be hard to find in the Pittsburgh area. And local leaders expect that the refurbished theater will have broader benefits for the community
